I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to explain that knowing oneself can make a person accept his/her strengths
and limitation and deal with others better.

Topic: Knowing Oneself (Self-Concept: Actual self and Ideal Self)

III. PROCEDURES

DAILY ROUTINE
Proper Greetings
Prayer
Checking of attendance
Observance of cleanliness in the room
Motivation: Song (Firework by Kat Perry)

A. ACTIVITY
Self-Concept Inventory: The students will be asked by to answer a self-concept inventory activity sheet. After
answering, they will count their scores in the six major personal areas which are: personal appeal, human relations,
intelligence, character, communications and maturity.

B. ANALYSIS
Discussion questions:
1. In what areas do you consider yourself strong (score of 14-16) or somewhat wear (score of 10-13) and very
weak (below 10)?
2. Did the result of your weak and strong personalities surprise you? Why? Why not?
3. How realistic is your self-image?
4. To what extent does it reflect your real self?
5. Does the result show the kind of person you want to be?

C. ABSTRACTION
From the answer on the discussion questions, the students will explain the ideal self and actual self. The teacher will
expound the discussion by giving the meaning of self-concept and the importance of the negotiation that exists
between the two selves.

D. APPLICATION

Portfolio Output No. 1 – Talent / Variety Show Presentation


The class will be divided into at least five groups. Each group shall have a presentation in front of the class. The
leaders of each group (including yours) shall rate another group based on the following criteria: originality (4
points), creativity/resourcefulness (4 points), teamwork (4 points) and audience impact (4 points), for a maximum of
16 points. The average of ratings of the group shall be written in the journal.
IV. ASSESSMENT
Direction: ((ESSAY)
Identify a particular strength and limitation that you have just discovered and explain how your discovery of
your strength/limitation helped you deal with others better.

V. ASSIGNMENT:
The students will be asked to write on their journal their reflection in their experiences in today’s activities.
