IV. PROCEDURES
 Establish classroom rules

A. ELICIT Elicit:
1. Let the learners recall on the last topic discussed.
AWARENESS

2. Let the learners answer the following questions;

a. What are EM waves?
b. How Electromagnetic waves are produced and propagated?
c. What are the properties of EM waves?
B. ENGAGE Engage:
1. Present pictures to the learners.
2. Ask the learners to observe the pictures?

GUIDE QUESTION:
1. What are these pictures all about?
C. EXPLORE Explore:
1 Let the students do the activity.
2. The class will be group into two (2)
3. Fast learners in the class will be equally distributed into each group so that the
slow learners from each group will be guided as they perform the activity.
4. They will be given 7 minutes to finish the task.
5. Each group will choose 1 representative to present their work before the class.

TITLE: THE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE THEORY

OBJECTIVES:
 Match the scientist with their contribution to the development of the
electromagnetic theory
 Make Comic strips of the scientists contributions
Materials
 1 White Cartolina
 Marker pen
 1 pencil with Erasers
 Coloring materials (Optional)

Procedure:
ACTIVITY

I. Match the scientists given below with their contributions

II. Using the information you gathered in your homework, make a concept web/
comic strips of the contributions of the following scientists.

Activity
Scientists Contributions
1. Ampere a. contributed in developing
equations that showed the
relationship of electricity and
magnetism.
2. Faraday b. showed experimental evidence
of electromagnetic waves and
their link to light
3. Hertz c. Demonstrated the magnetic
effect based of the direction of the
current
4. Maxwell d. Formulated the principle
behind electromagnetic induction
5. Oersted e. Showed how a current carrying
wire behaves like a magnet
GUIDE QUESTION:
1. Based on the activity what new insights/ learning did you get about natural world?

2. How did it change your view about light

D. EXPLAIN Explain:
Each group will have a one or two representatives to present their answers.

ANALYSIS
Let the students answer the following guide question:
1. Who formulated the EM theory?
2. Who are the scientist who contributed to EM theory?
E. ELABORATE Elaborate:
Teacher will further elaborate the lesson through discussion.
In 1865. Scottish scientist James Clerk Maxwell
formulated the electromagnetic theory, which
established a closer relationship between
electromagnetism and light. He assumed that a
changing magnetic field induces a magnetic field
and that a changing magnetic field, in turn,
generates an electric field. From this assumption,
Maxwell predicted the existence electromagnetic
waves.

French physicist Andre Marie Ampere (1775-

1836) found that wires carrying current produce
forces on each other. announcing his theory
electrodynamics in 1821.

English scientist Michael Faraday (1791-1867) at

the Royal Society in London developed the idea of
an electric field and studied the effect of currents
on magnets.
ABSTRACTON

German physicist Heinrich Hertz proved

Maxwell's electromagnetic wave theory was
correct, and in the process, generated and detected
electromagnetic waves.

Hans Oersted discovered that a current carrying

wire produces a magnetic field that leads to oersted
law of electromagnet.
F. Application Practical Application
Ask the learners to share their insight through the following guide questions.

APPLICATION
1.What would happen if EM waves were not discovered?

G. EVALUATION Evaluate:
Directions: Read the questions carefully. Then choose the correct answer from the box.
Write the letter of the correct answer on the space provided before the number.

A. Hans Oersted C. Andre Marie Ampere

É . Michael Faraday

B. Heinrich Hertz D. James Clerk Maxwell

ASSESSMENT

1. He proved Maxwell's electromagnetic wave theory was correct, and in the process
generated and detected electromagnetic waves.
2. He discovered that a current carrying wire produces a magnetic field.
3. He formulated the electromagnetic theory, which established a closer relationship
between electromagnetism and light
4.He developed the idea of an electric field and studied the effect of currents on
magnets.
5. He found that wires carrying current produce forces on each other, announcing
his theory of electrodynamics in 1821.

H. EXTEND Assignment:
ASSIGNMENT

Search for more scientist who made significant contributions in the development of the
study on the EM spectrum.

V. REMARKS
Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to help the
VI. REFLECTION students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant question.
A. No. of learners who earned 80% on
the formative assessment
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lesson work? No.
of learner who caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learner who continue to
require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies
worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter
which my principal or supervisor can
help me solve?
