I can understand why Erin thinks that genes are what determine who we are as

individuals. However, in my opinion, everyone’s identity is formed by the environment we

live in.

Erin’s argument has a flaw, which is although making once personality be changed is

difficult, but it is not totally impossible. In other word, we can form new identity by certain

events. I have an experience that a school activity changes my personality. Back then, I was

an introvert person. I did not really like to interplay with other friends. However, since I

participated the student council, it required me to communicate with many other people and

increase my confidence that finally allows me to be an outgoing person in the end.

In this way, I believe that nurture factors play larger role in creating our identity.
