Day 1 (August 16, 2023)

As an extensionist member of the Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, I
embarked on an inspiring journey to the PAEPI Biennial Convention held at the Metro Centre Hotel in
Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The convention, centered on the theme "Empowering Extension Professionals
towards Social Transformation and Food Security," spanned from August 16th to August 18th, 2023.
Upon our arrival, our delegation was warmly welcomed, immersing us in a vibrant atmosphere. The
convention venue was alive with excitement as extension professionals from various institutions
nationwide converged to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices.
Engaging eagerly, I, together with my extension with a heart NMSCST attended keynote speeches by
renowned experts in the field. These addresses offered invaluable insights into the challenges facing
extension professionals and presented strategies for effective community engagement and
empowerment. One notable highlight was the discourse on the value-chain approach, highlighting its
potential to enhance the efficiency of the entire production process, thereby increasing income
opportunities for smallholders, promoting economic growth, and addressing issues of poverty, food
security, and sustainable development. Speakers underscored collaboration, innovation, and sustainable
practices as pivotal for addressing pressing global concerns.
Complementing plenary sessions, the convention featured interactive workshops designed to foster active
learning and skill development. This provided an opportunity for me to connect with peers from diverse
institutions, sharing stories of success and experiences. These connections facilitated valuable
networking and laid the foundation for potential future collaborations in upcoming projects.

Day 2 (August 17, 2023)

The second day of the convention commenced with the first resource speaker, who engaged the
attendees with expertise relevant to extension work. Their insights and practical strategies resonated
deeply, offering guidance to extension professionals like me who were present.
Following this engaging session, the convention progressed to the second session. The resource speaker
for this session shed light on a different facet of extension work and its contribution to social
transformation and food security. Their expertise and experiences captivated the audience, enhancing our
understanding. During the morning plenary sessions, Plenary Session 4 featured Dr. William C. Medrano,
the former Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Livestock. His presentation, titled "Resource
Generation: Key to Enhancing Extension Programs in HEIs," provided valuable insights into resource
mobilization for strengthening and expanding extension programs in higher education institutions. The
subsequent Plenary Session 5 featured Engr. Anastacio T. Daniel, Jr., a Corporate Agripreneurship and
Owner. His journey as an agripreneur emphasized the role of entrepreneurship in agriculture for driving
social transformation and achieving food security. Insights gained from these resource speakers
deepened our understanding of key factors in enhancing extension programs and the crucial role of
entrepreneurship in agricultural development. Empowered by this knowledge, I felt inspired to explore
innovative avenues for resource generation and extension work in my community.

Day 3 (August 18, 2023)

On the third and final day of the PAEPI Biennial Convention, I, alongside my fellow Northwestern
Mindanao State College of Science and Technology Extensionists, gathered at the Metro Centre Hotel in
Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The day's agenda included a general assembly meeting, induction of new
members and officers, recognition and awarding, and the turnover of PAEPI leadership.
The general assembly meeting, beginning at 1:00 PM, offered a platform for collective discussion and
decision-making among the extension professionals present. Our active participation enabled us to share
perspectives and insights on PAEPI's future directions and initiatives. Following the meeting, the induction
of new members and officers took place. This marked the inclusion of fresh talents into the PAEPI
community, an event we witnessed with celebration. The commitment and dedication of these new
members to the field of extension work were recognized.
As the convention concluded, I reflected on the enriching experience. The three days of dynamic
discussions, thought-provoking sessions, and meaningful networking had expanded my perspectives and
deepened my commitment to extension work. The convention not only empowered me with new
knowledge but also affirmed my dedication to contributing to social transformation and food security
through my role as an extension professional.
