Present Simple

Time expressions:
Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely = seldom / every year = yearly = anually = biannually, every day =
daily, every week = weekly, every month = monthly, once a week, twice a week, three times a week, in the
morning/afternoon/evening, at nights, at midnights, on FridayS, at dawns.
e.g. He always wakes up at 6 o’clock.

Past Simple
WHEN? (+) V2, (-, ?) Did+V1

Time expressions: yesterday, last month/year, 2 years ago, in 2010.


e.g. I played volleyball yesterday.

Future Simple
Will/shall (I, we) V1

(-) will+not= won't/shall+not=shan't SHALL = offer (пропозиція) suggestion (idea): Shall we dance?
Time expressions: I think/guess/consider/hope/swear/promise/suppose; probably, maybe, perhaps,
tomorrow, in the future, in 2050, in 2 days/weeks

e.g. Shall I pay for you? I will go to the cinema. Shall we go to the cafe?

Continuous

Present Continuous
To be (is, am,are) +V1+ing

Time expressions: at the moment, now, right now, from 5 till/to/untill 6 o'clock, nowadays, more and more,
today, this week, at tonight, always (коли раздратування), while
e.g. They are watching a movie right now.

Past Continuous
to be (Was/were) + V1+ing

Time expressions: while, when, as, all (the whole) day (morning/evening/night), yesterday,


yesterday from 6 till /until/to (7, 8, ...) o'clock /a.m. /p.m.,
e.g. While I was doing my homework, my mom was cooking diner.

Future Continuous (майбутній безперервний час використовується, щоб говорити про майбутні
події, які будуть в процесі та ми знаємо коли)
Will + be + V1+ing

Time expressions: while, when, this time tomorrow, this time next week, in the afternoon, next month, next
week, next year, tomorrow morning at 5 o’clock
e.g.This time tomorrow I will be lying on the beach.
This time tomorrow I will be celebrating my birthday.

Present Perfect

e.g. I have just bought a ticket.

Past Perfect
Had + V3+ed

Time expressions: by, by the time, because, before, after, when, just
e.g. He had finished his homework by seven o'clock.
By the time he got to class, the lesson had started.

Future Perfect
Will have + V3+ed

Time expressions: before, till, until, by then, by the time, by 3 p.m., by 5 o’clock, by 7 a.m., by tomorrow,
by next week, by next month, by next year, by next century.
e.g. I will have worked as a teacher by next March.
I will have found a new job by next month.

Time expressions: lately=recently, for quite a while, all day, for, since, how long..?

Past Perfect Continuous


Had been + V3+ing

Time expressions: for, since, when, how long, before.


e.g. He had been drinking milk out the carton when Mom came into the kitchen.
I had been working for the company for five years when I got the promotion.

Future Perfect Continuous


Will have been + V3+ing

Time expressions: by 6pm (до 18 години), by Monday (до понеділку), by the 17th of July (до 17 липня),
by next month (до наступного місяця), when, in 20 minutes (за двадцать хвилин)
e.g. By Monday we will have been playing tennis for one hour.
