Objective: Dividing a 3- to - Digit Number by a 1- Digit Number Without and with remainder

Background information: The Municipal Mayor received a donation of 763 kilograms of rice distributed
equally to 7 barangays affected by typhoon Glenda. How many kilograms of rice did each barangay
received?
How will you solve the given problem?
Step 1
 Divide: 7 ÷ 7 =. Write 1 in the thousand place of the quotient
 Multiply: 1 x 7 =1
 Subtract: 7 – 7 = 0
Step 2
 Bring down the hundreds in the dividend:6
 Divide:6 ÷ 7(we cannot divide since 7 is bigger than 6.)
 Write 0 in the hundreds place of the quotient.
 Bring down the tens in the dividend:3
 Divide:63 ÷ 7 =9. Write the quotient in the tens place of the quotient.
 Subtract: 63 – 63 =0
Step 3
 Bring down the ones digit in the dividend: 7
 Divide 7 ÷ 7 = 1. Write 1 in the ones place of the quotient
 Multiply:1 x 7 = 7
 Subtract:7 – 7 =0
Answer: Each barangay will received 1091 kilograms of rice.

Divide the following:

1. 986 ÷ 8 = 2. 6884 ÷ 4 = 3. 5263 ÷ 7 =

Solve the following problems:

1. Jack has a collection of 438 marbles. If he will place the marbles equally in 6 bottles, how many
marbles will be in each bottle?

2. Alice received Php3,456 for 8 working days in a factory. How much was she paid per day?

Background Information: Lisa bought 4 kkilogram of lanzones and 2 kikilogram of apples.

How many kilograms of fruits did she buy in all? How many kilogram of lansonez than apple did she
buy?
How will you answer the questions in the problem?
3 1
To answer the question add 4 and 2 .

The number sentence is + = n
4 2

3 1
 Change 4 and 2 to similar fraction by finding the LCD or LCM of 2 and 4. Use continous
division to get the LCD.
 Add the numerators.
 Write the sum over the least common denominator.
 Write the answer as mixed number if it is an improper fraction, change to lowest term if it is in
proper fraction.
 Using continous division method to get the LCD
Solution:
2 4 2 1 1x3 2x1 5
3 1
2 2 2 + 2 = 4 + + 4 = 4 or 1 4
4
1 1
LCD: 2 X 2 = 4
divide LCD 4 to denominator 4 then multiply to
Numerator 3 and LCD 4 to denominator 2,
multiply to numerator 1.
Solve for n. Write your answer in lowest form if needed.
