Background information: The Municipal Mayor received a donation of 763 kilograms of rice distributed
equally to 7 barangays affected by typhoon Glenda. How many kilograms of rice did each barangay
received?
How will you solve the given problem?
Step 1
Divide: 7 ÷ 7 =. Write 1 in the thousand place of the quotient
Multiply: 1 x 7 =1
Subtract: 7 – 7 = 0
Step 2
Bring down the hundreds in the dividend:6
Divide:6 ÷ 7(we cannot divide since 7 is bigger than 6.)
Write 0 in the hundreds place of the quotient.
Bring down the tens in the dividend:3
Divide:63 ÷ 7 =9. Write the quotient in the tens place of the quotient.
Subtract: 63 – 63 =0
