I remember last December 2021 when one of my classmates who is also a teacher in
DepEd sent me a message if it’s okay for me to teach as a substitute teacher in FSONHS. I’m
just so happy since that time I don’t have stable job and I only do tutorials. So, I accept it and
prepare all the necessary documents to be submitted in the division.
And now, it's been a month since I started working as a DepEd substitute teacher,
namely at FSONHS. At first, I was a little bit confused on how will I start my job, but
through the help and advices of my co-teachers, I gained confidence which helped me a lot
on how to start my duties as a teacher. I believed that my experience in teaching in Misamis
Union High School helped me to become an effective teacher. Learning is something I enjoy
doing. Part of the joy is sharing what you've learned. My three years’ experienced was not
just an experience but I would say it was amazing.
Although the situation right now is different because of this pandemic, but still the
duties of a teacher didn’t stop and it still continues. I’m hoping that this new experience here
in FSONHS will help me develop professionally as a teacher. Though it will be temporary
since my contract will last for 3 months and a half, but still I was happy and blessed cause I
believed that I could achieve that permanent position someday.

The government's various sectors, including education, were pushed to match the New
Normal. The system had gone through a lot in a short amount of time and had gone to tremendous
lengths to keep its goal alive. Despite being the government's hub, Metro Manila's economy and

education were not prepared. The lack of gadgets and a poor internet connection were just two of
the obstacles that interfered with the school's mission to provide quality education to students.
Some other schools in the province are fortunate to have people with a solid support
structure who can stick to DepEd's sworn mandate. To solve the issues that arose, gadgets were
distributed, intranet infrastructures were created, and localized materials were developed and
published.
The first issue was a lack of printed modules and LAS. To fulfill the amount of modules
to be provided to the students, teachers frequently print self-learning resources. The bulk of the
parents did not acquire and retrieve the modules according to their prescribed schedule. Finally,
late delivery of modules from service providers caused teachers stress because they had to
duplicate the modules themselves for the modular learners.
However, as an educator, it is important to deliver quality education to the learners
despite the lapses mentioned.

Recently, I’ve heard in the news in social media about the war between Russia and
Ukraine. Much of the world woke up on Thursday to the specter of an all-out war in Europe
after President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia ordered his troops to invade Ukraine. That left
millions of people — in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, but also in the United States and
elsewhere — wondering how the conflict would affect their lives.

At least 40 Ukrainian soldiers were reported dead in the hours following the invasion,
with the combat resulting in tens of thousands of casualties. Beyond the expected violence,
however, economic sanctions imposed on Russia will have a global impact.
Consumers will bear the brunt of rising energy costs and perhaps slowed supply
chains. Russian cyberattacks have the potential to bring down electronic infrastructure. A
new refugee catastrophe will necessitate international help. And the West's era of relative
quiet, which has lasted since the conclusion of the Cold War, may be coming to an end.
Hope things cool down. Putin has second thought and pulls back his army. God bless
Ukraine and its people.

One of our responsibilities as teachers is to assess how well our students are doing in
class. Learning evaluation is a critical feedback mechanism in education, allowing all
participants in the learning process to understand what is being taught and where further
learning resources are needed.
Depending on the goal of the assessment, multiple modalities may be used. Formative
assessment, like high-stakes exams and large-scale assessments, is typically done in the
classroom by teachers as part of the teaching process and includes everything from teacher
observation to constant feedback to assignments.
Formative assessment is very important for determining each student's learning
requirements and tailoring training accordingly. Furthermore, teachers frequently use

summative exams to gauge the extent to which students met expected learning goals and
acquired important knowledge and abilities.
While all types of student learning assessment are important, formative assessment is
especially important right now because learning must take place outside of the physical
classroom, and teachers and parents-turned-teachers must know whether students are
absorbing content delivered in formats that are different from business as usual.
