Vocabulary: prepositions of places
Target Language:
Present Simple Questions
Duration: 45 minutes
Total: 45 minutes.
2 Procedure
A. Warmer
Ask the students questions about themselves and their family and friends. They are
supposed to answer them and ask the same question another student. Group the
questions in DO and DOES categories to make it easier for students to learn the
difference between the two. You can also write DO on the board while asking such
questions, and DOES while asking the questions using the third person.
Teach your students how to recognize infinitive or a base form of a verb. Explain when
to use DO or DOES in questions and draw the signs for them on the board. Make a few
questions while pointing to the right sign on the board. After that, ask the students to
write the right symbols in the exercise. Then they can ask their classmates those
questions and answer them.
Before doing the exercise with the map, teach your students the meaning of the
prepositions of place by placing different objects in different positions with respect to
each other, e.g. put the book opposite the eraser, or next to the sharpener, etc. After
that help them recognize the places on the map and let them do the exercise.

First, the teacher gives instructions to the students, and then students take turns in
giving instructions. The teacher should also join the game.
Each pair of students acts out the scene in the town in which one student asks for
directions and the other answers. Then they swap roles.
