Make a Japanese Origami

Materials Needed: Paper


You may choose below:
Origami paper
Old newspapers
Bond papers
Construction papers, or any used papers
Origami Flapping Bird
If using other papers like newspapers, bond paper, construction paper, make
sure to start with a square piece paper.
Procedures:
1. Fold the top corner of the paper down to the bottom corner. Crease and open
again. Then fold the paper in half sideways.
2. Turn the paper over to the white side. Fold the paper in half, crease well and
open, and then fold again in the other direction.
3. Using the creases you have made, Bring the top 3 corners of the model down to
the bottom corner. Flatten model
4. Fold top triangular flaps into the center and unfold.
5. Fold top of model downwards, crease well and unfold.
6. Open the uppermost flap of the model, bringing it upwards and pressing the
sides of the model inwards at the same time. Flatten down, creasing well.
7. Turn model over and repeat Steps 4-6 on the other side.
8. Fold legs upward along the outside edges, then open again.
9. Use these creases to inside reverse fold these parts.
10. Inside reverse fold the head, and fold down the wings as shown. Then partially
open them up again.
11. Finished flapping bird. To make the wings flap forward, pull the tail gently
outwards.

Paint me a Picture
Create an artwork depending on mood, idea and message.
Materials:
• Pencil
• Instant coffee powder (2 spoonful)
• Canvas board or watercolor paper
• Brush
• Natural varnish
• Container
• Tissue or rag
Procedure:
For the 1st container:
Mix two spoons of coffee powder with 3 spoons of water. Mix it well to get a medium color.
For the 2nd container:
Mix two spoons of coffee powder with 2 spoons of water. Mix it well to get a dark coffee color.
1. Trace a design on the illustration board or canvas.
2. Apply medium color paint to be the base of any picture.
3. Apply the dark color paint to do the darker shadings and outlines. Darker shade gives a glossy
effect to the picture. If you want a lighter shade, just mix few more drops of water.
4. When the whole painting is done, apply with natural varnish and coating.

18th Century Chinese potters copied European
wooden, glass and metal vessels,
while Chinese shapes, such as the
teapot, were introduced to Europe.
19th-20th Century The relationship between Chinese
and western ceramics expanded in
the late 19th and early 20th centuries,
when widespread concerns
regarding urbanization,
industrialization, and the impact of
mass production spurred interest in
early Chinese ceramics.

SAMBAT MASCARA Y REGATTA


• At early times, the mascara was used by the villagers to
disguise themselves in order not to be caught that they
venerate the Saint, St. Francis Xavier.
• When the festival started sometime in 1980’s until at present
the mascara is used during the Sambat Mascara Y Regatta
festival which is celebrated in honor of St. Francis Xavier, the
2nd patron saint of Loay.
• Before the mascara was made of clay, then there was also a
time that the community folks used dark colored paints on
their faces.
• Since the festival progressed, the design of mascara was
enhanced; more bright colors were added and used
indigenous materials available in the community.
