Why Does the

Future Not Need

Us?

N.D.
Can you imagine a
future without the
human race?
Do you think that
robots and machines
can replace humans?
Do you believe that there
will come a time when
humans’ existence will be
at the mercy of robots and
machines?
Artificial Intelligence
• a branch of computer science that is
sometimes called machine intelligence
• it involves developing computer programs
to complete tasks which would otherwise
require human intelligence
Artificial Intelligence
• it is a mechanical intelligence, as opposed
to the naturally occurring intelligence
exhibited by humans and other creatures
• designed to do speech recognition,
learning, planning, and problem solving

• Purpose: can act as personal assistants or a

self-driving car
Artificial Intelligence
• it addresses crucial questions like:
1. What knowledge is required in any aspect
of thinking?
2. How should that knowledge be
represented?
3. How should that knowledge be used?
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence

• Traits:
• Capable of predicting and adapting
• Makes decisions on its own
• Continuous learning
• Forward-looking
• Capable of motion and perception
Artificial Intelligence
• Ethics:
• Trustworthy
• Robust and safe
• Privacy and data governance
• Transparency
• Diversity, non-discrimination and fairness
• Societal and environmental well-being
• Accountability

technologies:
• Genetic Engineering
• Nanotechnology
• Robotics
What could be the
problems that come with
it?
Genetic Engineering
• a process of recombinant DNA
technology that alter the
genetic make up of an organism
• Disadvantages:
• widely opposed by religion
• unknown effects to an
organism
• trial and error method
Nanotechnology
• manipulation of individual
atoms or molecules to produce
new structures, materials, and
devices
• promises scientific advances in
many fields
Nanotechnology
• Disadvantages:
• economic disruption
• threats to security, privacy,
health, and the environment
• may be used for weapons and
mass destruction
Robotics
• an interdisciplinary branch of computer
science and engineering that involve
design, operation, and use of robots.
• Disadvantages:
• may create economic problems
• purely governed by humans and their
goal
• humans becoming dependent on robots
The rate and direction of technological
innovation over time will lead to a world where
humans are unnecessary and machines will be
able to do without us.
Instead of interacting with them in the way we historically
have—programming them to execute the tasks we instruct
them to perform—we will cross a threshold where we
unwittingly relinquish the responsibility of making important
decisions that we as a society need to make
