Migration - geographic movement of people across a


specified boundary for the purpose of establishing a
new permanent or semi-permanent residence.

Migrant - is a person who comes from one place


to another, especially in order to find work or
better living conditions.

Circular Migration - is a regular pattern of short


term migration.

International Migration - refers to the movement


between countries.

Immigrant - is an international migrant who


enters the area from a place outside the
country*

Immigrant- A person who comes to live


permanently in a foreign country.

Emigrant - is an international migrant


departing to another country by crossing the
international boundary.

Emigrant - A person who leaves their own


country in order to settle permanently in
another.

Internal Migration - is the movement within a


country.

In-Migration - is the movement into a new


politically/geographically/administratively
defined area within the same country.

Out-Migration is the movement out of a


politically/geographically/administratively
defined area within the same country.

Out-Migrant is a person who moves out of a area


within the same country.

Pull Factors - these are the positive characteristics


of a country that appears attractive and thus
enchants people to go to that country.
