BAWANTA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL READING RECOVERY PROGRAM

PROJECT C.L.E.A.R (Classroom Learning and Engaging Afternoon Reading)
SY 2022-2023

I. RATIONALE
In support of the implementation of the Kto12 Basic Education Program, the READING FIRST FOR REGION 1 of the DepEd-Region I, and the La Union Schools
Division’s Reading Program under the LUSD-Integrated and Inclusive Learning Recovery School-Based Reading Program, the Bawanta National High School is committed to
equip our learners with essential reading competencies and help the learners who need primary assistance in their reading.

The school-based reading program C.L.E.A.R which stands for Classroom Learning and Engaging Afternoon Reading aims to intensify reading by exposing the learners
to various reading activities and opportunities by providing them with reading interventions. During the reading program, reading time will be conducted at 1:00 in the afternoon
and this will take 30 minutes for the teachers to conduct reading time in their classroom designation.

II. OBJECTIVES
A. Equip learners with necessary reading competencies.
B. Capacitate all teachers in conducting the reading activities during the reading time assigned to them.
C. Promote cooperation within and among teachers and learners towards improved learning outcomes.

III. FRAMEWORK
During the program, all teachers and learners will be involved in the reading time where each teacher is assigned a specified classroom or section (See Table 1 and 2).
Teachers have the opportunity to be with the learners during the reading time and should prepare reading materials or may use the Self-Learning Modules or textbooks as their
materials. They can use this time for them to integrate their lessons across all learning areas to the reading time. Learners who are identified as Frustration, Instructional, and
Independent will receive varied approaches in their reading. All stakeholders who are willing to be reading-volunteers can also be tapped. In this manner, the reading ability of the
learners will be improved, thus, all learners will become readers.

READING SCHEME:

The reading program C.L.E.A.R aims to involve all teachers including non-teaching personnel in the reading activities and sessions. During the program, each teacher is
assigned a class and given schedule to enter and have the reading sessions with the assigned class at 1:00 PM- 1:30 PM. The reading sessions are held for 30 minutes every day.
This program also involves dependent readers from the Senior High School who will act as the student assistants of the teachers during the sessions. They will enter the class on
Thursdays and Fridays.

Each teacher uses various reading activities and approaches during their sessions with the class. Identified Instructional and Independent readers may also act as the
assistants of the assigned teachers during the sessions. The identified Frustration readers are being monitored by the Language teachers during Wednesdays- Fridays. They are
pulled out from the class and are assigned to designated Language teachers to be separately facilitated in their reading.

The teachers may integrate their lessons in the reading sessions. They may prepare words from their modules or textbooks to be used as reading materials for the day. The
class may have choral reading, reading by row, reading by girls only, reading by boys only, individual reading, and the like. The Independent readers may also help their
classmates in tandem reading.

During the program, the parents participate and involve themselves in the reading activities of their children. Home reading will be monitored by the school where the
parents help their children read and answer comprehension questions will be followed up the next day.

In this reading program, it is hoped that all readers will enjoy their reading sessions even though their class hour is adjusted to 30 minutes in which, originally, it is 7:30AM
– 4:00 PM. The collected efforts of the learners, teachers, and parents will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of this program.
