We present to you our project proposal entitled “ SAVE EARTH:

Plant Trees For A Better Nature, For A Better Life In The Community”.
This proposal is being submitted on May 15,2023 as an unsolicited
external proposal.

The purpose of this proposal is to plant trees to replace the

trees that has been destroyed by the LPA (Low Pressure Area) last May
3, 2023 in Brgy. Banban Lambunao, Iloilo. Many part in Brgy, Banban
has been affected by landslide due to heavy rainfall.

In this case, we are asking for your help to provide seedlings

that will be planted on the tree planting activity. We are looking
forward for your very kind response.

Abstract
This proposal discusses the benefits and importance of planting
trees. Due to the lack of trees around the barangay area, it becomes
difficult to prevent calamities such as landslides, floods, etc. this
proposal has a major project activity to conduct a tree planting
entitled “SAVE EARTH: Plant Trees For A Better Nature, For A Better
Life In The Community”, in Barangay Banban Lambunao, Iloilo. As of May
3, 2023, Barangay Banban is one of the barangays experienced landslide
due to Low Pressure Area(LPA). This proposal will be proposed to the
Department of Agriculture Lambunao. This project proposes tree
planting to prevent the calamities and the danger of it in community
and in every individuals. This proposed project has the estimated cost
of Php 500.00, that inly includes the expenses in snacks. In
conclusion, we proposed a project named “SAVE EARTH: Plant Trees For
A Better Nature, For A Better Life In The Community” that aims to
raise awareness to the society in the importance of planting, saving
trees, and express our concern to the environment, to promote
cleanliness, and propagate the planting of trees.

Background of the Proposal

Our environment needs humans’ tender loving care and we can do so
by engaging in environmental activities that also improve our quality
of living such as tree planting. Trees have lots of benefits and tree
growing is an essential way country across globe are doing to avert
the harsh impacts of climate change. We have seen the damage it
wrought upon us just like landslides.

Landslides can be caused by a major event such as earthquake, but

landslides are generally caused when heavy rain saturates soil on
hillside past the point where vegetation can support the soil’s weight
against the force of gravity.

These mechanisms, and others, also make trees valuable in land

reclamation following landslides. Furthermore, trees help to reduce

soil erosion and can form an effective barrier against rock, debris
and soil slips, as well as limiting landslide run-out distance.

The roots of trees hold the soil in place as it fights erosion

that causes landslide. It also absorbs and store rainwater that helps
reduce runoff and sediment deposit after the storms. It also helps
recharge ground water supply, prevents transport of chemicals into
streams as well as prevents flooding. Its fruits provide food while
its fallen leaves also make good compost and improve the quality of
soil.

Trees and forest play important roles in reducing landslide risk

through various mechanisms. Tree roots reinforce soil layers, anchor
the soil to bedrock and form buttresses against soil movement. Trees
also reduce landslide risk by lowering soil moisture levels –
interception, evaporation and transpiration are the primary
mechanisms.

Establishing trees is one of the fundamental explanations that

makes this planet tenable. They are the wellspring of oxygen which is
fundamental for endurance of all living creatures on the Earth.
Without this, there is no chance of life. There are numerous different
advantages of establishing trees which incorporate ecological, social
and monetary advantages.

As stated above, they are the only source of oxygen. They take up
the carbon dioxide from air and release oxygen. Planting more trees
can help in decreasing the degrees of air contamination as they
assimilate toxin gases and channel out the particulates. It likewise
maintains the temperature of a space at a lower level than a space
that does not have trees. They are additionally the environment for
birds and numerous different creatures. Trees are additionally a
wellspring of products of the soil. Advantage of establishing trees

Trees planted in a space around a general public can be utilized

as a recreation center for youth and adults. They give space to
sporting exercise like picnics and morning strolls. Presence of trees
and forest additionally make exercises like hiking and trekking more
diversion for individuals who are in adventures.

Trees are not only a source of oxygen, they are also a source of
biotic materials like wood, resin, fiber, honey, rubber and many
others. These are the raw materials for, any industries. There are
many benefits of planting trees but people still do not realize their
importance. To keep the Earth as a habitable living planet, we need to
take responsibility.

Due to lack of trees around the barangay area, it becomes

difficult to reduce the greenhouse gases that continuously rises the
temperature as well as the abnormal changes of the climate, but of
course that is not only the case, there is not sufficient oxygen and
day by day the air we breathe is continuously being contaminated due
to vehicles and other transportation, not only our barangay is
affected by this but the whole community itself is affected as well.
In order to prevent these problems from getting worst, the
barangay community decided to take action as to plant trees in
available surroundings and areas. The outcome of this project will
make the environment more protected, eco-friendly, and lastly this
will keep the nature and the earth in good condition.

The residence of Brgy. Banban Lambunao, Iloilo experience
landslide, which defined as the movement of a mass of rock, debris, or
earth down a slope and denotes any down-slope movement of soil and
rock under the direct influence of gravity, on May 03, 2023 due to
heavy rain since there is a low-pressure area (LPA). We chose a
project proposal entitled SAVE EARTH: Plant Trees, For a Better
Nature, For a Better Life in the Community since the roots of trees

Monitoring and Evaluation

To monitor the growth and progress of the seedling, one of the
proponents will check the seedlings on the area where it is planted
and checked if there is damage or problem within the seedling itself.
The member that will monitor the area and the seedling will take down
every single detail that she observed on the plant. After doing that,
she will take picture and send it to her co-members and report what
she observed.

Reporting Scheme
Once the project has been finalized and done, the proponents will
report the finances that has been used during the implementation of
the project. And every week, the proponents will report the progress
the progress on their project.

Conclusion
Our project proposal focuses in fighting erosion that causes
landslides. This requires an immediate attention because landslides
can cause high mortality and injuries from rapidly flowing water and
debris. The most common cause of death in a landslide is trauma or
suffocation by entrapment. Broken power, water, gas, or sewage pipes
can also result in injury or illness in the population affected.

In this case, the proponents proposed this project to help

replace the trees that has been damaged during the LPA (Low Pressure
Area) last May 3, 2023. This project will surely help the community of
Brgy. Banban because of the benefit they will get in the tree
planting.
