Let’s quickly recap on plants and their roots.
<Indicate the plant on the left>
● Here are the different parts of the
plant – roots, stem, leaf, fruit and
flower.
<Indicate the right box>
Here are the types of roots:
● Roots of grass are strong, long and
much spread out than the grass on the
ground itself
● Roots of mango and neem, extremely
strong to hold the big tree to the soil
● The Banyan tree has roots below the
ground and also from branches to
support it strongly.

Connector:
Moving to some more kinds of roots.
3 Tutor Points:
<Indicate the left box>
Here are some vegetables that are actually
roots of their plants like carrots, radishes, etc.
<Indicate the right box>
● Plants that climb onto a support are
called climbers.
● They have delicate stems. Grapes,
bitter gourds etc. are some of them.
Connector: Moving to the need for the plant.

4 Tutor Points:
<Indicate left box>
● The roots absorb water from the soil
and transports it to different parts.
● Plants need to be watered enough
otherwise they become dry.
<Indicate right box>
● Some plants need regular watering like
rose, hibiscus, tomato, etc.
● While some needs occasionally like
like cactus and aloe vera.

Connector:
Moving to the plants that can search water
anywhere.

5 Tutor Points:
<Indicate left box>

roads.
● Their roots are deep and can search for
water from the wall or rain.
● They can create cracks on walls.
<Indicate right box>
● Here are the plants that grows in salty
water near coastal area like Mumbai and
Kochi.
● They are called mangroves. A part of their
roots grow vertically above the soil.<point
to the roots>
● Desert plants like cactus have deeper roots
for getting water.
● They store water in leaves and stem for
weeks.

Connector:
Let’s move to the consequences of cutting trees.

6 Tutor Points:
The forest department of India has laid down
rules to prevent cutting down trees.
People should get prior permission before
cutting any tree even if it is in their home.
Offenders can be punished with penalty or
imprisonment.

Connector: Quickly moving to revisit the

concept of growth.

7 Tutor Points:
Seeds are planted into the soil and watered
regularly.
They absorb water and start with a downward
outgrowth called roots.
Then there is an upward growth called stem.
Plants, animals and humans; all grow.
Our hair and nails grow throughout life.

Connector: Let’s answer the question
