TENSES EXAMPLES
1. Present simple (Hiện tại đơn) Mary picks a rose every day.

2. Present progressive (Hiện tại tiếp diễn) Susan is making cakes.
O → S + am/ is/ are + being + V3/ ed + by (S → O) → Cakes are being made by Susan.
3. Present perfect (Hiện tại hoàn thành) They have produced over 20 models.
O → S + have/ has + been + V3/ ed + by (S → O) → Over 20 models have been produced.
4. Past simple (Quá khứ đơn) James Joyce wrote “Dubliners”.
O → S + was/ were + V3/ ed + by (S → O) → “Dubliners” was written by James Joyce.
5. Past perfect (Quá khứ hoàn thành) My father had bought me a new bike.
O → S + had + been + V3/ ed + by (S → O) → I had been bought a new bike by my father.

* Lưu ý:
- Trạng từ chỉ chỉ thời gian đứng sau “ by + O”
- Nếu chủ từ trong câu chủ động động là đại từ ( I, We, You, They, She, He, It ) → có thể bỏ by + O
- Nếu chủ từ trong câu chủ động là đại từ bất định ( everyone, everybody, someone, somebody, people) → có thể bỏ by + O
- Nếu chủ từ trong câu chủ động là đại từ bất định phủ định (no one/ nobody/ nothing )
→ câu bị động cũng phải ở thể phủ định.

*Cách chuyển sang câu điều kiện loại 2, 3:
- Xác định thì của động từ. Nếu động từ được chia thì hiện tại đơn ta đưa về câu điều kiện loại 2; nếu động từ được chia thì
quá khứ đơn, ta đưa về câu điều kiện loại 3.
- Nếu trong câu có so, ta lấy mệnh đề trước so làm mệnh đề if.
- Nếu trong câu có because, ta lấy mệnh đề sau because làm mệnh đề if.
- Đổi từ thể khẳng định thành phủ định và ngược lại.

1. People have been hunting whales for at least a thousand years, and there were no real problems until the 20th century.
What happened was that fishing technology became much more efficient and the ships were much faster, so more and
more whales were caught. In the 1960s the main whaling countries were killing more than sixty thousand whales a year,
