Optical Character Recognition/ Reader (OCR):


It is a software that takes the scanned text and converts in to a computer readable
form. The text can then be used in various application packages like word
processor.
Uses:

BAR CODE READERS:

QUICK RESPONSE CODES (QR CODES)
It is another type of barcode. Which is made up of matrix filed in dark squares on a
light background. Barcodes can hold up to 30 digits and QR codes can hold over
7000 digits. QR codes can be scanned anywhere.
By using the built in camera facility on modern smart phones and by downloading
the appropriate application it is possible to read the QR code.
ADV:
1. There is no need for the user to actually write down or Key in a website
address as this is done automatically by scanning the QR code.
2. QR codes can store website address or URLs providing very effective
methods of advertising.
