I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:

Topic: Distinguishing Cause and Effect Text types

References: Joy in Learning English 5/English Expressway Language 5

Materials: Flash cards, pictures, websites/internet (youtube) Dictionary,


and vocabulary words and sheet.

III. Learning Procedures


A. Preparatory activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of attendance
d. Setting classroom rules
e. Review
Ask the pupils what was the previous topic and ask for an example of
what are they.
f. Motivation
group the pupils into two and then the teacher will post a pictures for
the grouped pupils to identify what are the scrabbled words are

B. Developmental activities (4A’s)


a. Activity
Group the pupils into four, each group will write a cause and effect
and will act in front of the class
b. Analysis
Discus what is cause and effect and distinguish
c. Abstraction
Ask the pupils about cause and effect and ask for examples about
cause and effect
d. Application
Read a story to the class while follow upping a questions
IV. Evaluation

Read the text then identify the cause- and –effect in the paragraph.

The water shortage that hit the country lately causes several
problems. Because of the shortage, public places like local restaurants and many
other places are forced to use very little water for cleaning which causes huge
sanitation issues. In household settings, clean drinking water is also hard to acquire.
Lack of water also result in clogged sewage, a perfect breeding places for
mosquitoes and other insects – the source of dengue, malaria, and other diseases.
In rural areas, growing of plants becomes a hard job because of less irrigation, which
leads to a shortage in crops like rice.
