live in the Nicomachean Ethics, generally considered the most important ethical treatise
in the Western philosophical tradition. Aristotle argues happiness comes from virtue and
wisdom. He also examines political science, justice, desire, and human relationships.

1. What was considered by Aristotle as the highest ruling science?


POLITICAL SCIENCE The “highest ruling science,” Aristotle claims, is political science. This science
prescribes which sciences should be studied in cities, who should study them, and how much.

2. List three concepts of happy lives according to Aristotle.


Aristotle three different lifestyles of happiness: the life of pleasure, the political life, and the virtuous life.

3. What is needed to determine the highest good for a human being?


In a standard understanding, the so-called "highest good" entails "happiness distributed in exact
proportion to morality (as the worth of a person and his worthiness to be happy)". To put it another way,
a morally upright man should be able to achieve the happiness he deserves.
4. What are the three types of goods according to Aristotle?
