1. Who is the main character in the film?

Give the following details:

- Before, her name was Stanley Schupak. But later on, she changed it to Sabrina Osbourne. Born
November 6, 1964. I think her name was not mention in the movie. And I think, she’s around late 40’s?
She it not married. Her work is advertising sales.
2. Describe the main character in the film. What are the gender roles that she portrays? How does she
cope with the norms of the society? How does she handle stress? How does she behave?
- For her, she is a woman but he was born being a man. She expresses herself as laying low in the
society. And she just following the norms of the society like on how women act. There are some where
she is stress, like when the kid in the restaurant looks at her and ask if she is a boy or a girl. That’s why
she calls the psychologist.

3. The main character, was at first, not allowed by her psychologist to undergo the surgery. What was the
reason? Explain this thoroughly.

- At first, the psychologist said that she was not ready for the surgery and she said that she doesn’t want
Sabrina to feel that she is still incomplete. And her perspectives have been changed when she met her
son.

4. How did she react after finding out that she has a son? Did this influence her decision to undergo the
operation? Explain.

- She was shocked because after thirty or forty years, she met her son. And that doesn’t influence her
decision.

5. Describe her son in terms of behavior. Explain his behaviors based on his experiences and by using
some gender theories that you learned in our class. What do you think are the factors that contributed to
the gender issues of his son? Elaborate.

- He was not good son for me because he was using some illegal drugs, stealing some money or things
in the market, and sometimes he does some sexual stuff just to make money. But I understand why he is
doing that. He experienced trauma when she was a kid.

6. What are the reactions of the significant people in the main character's life when they found out that
she's going to have an operation? Did their reactions and opinions influence the main character's
decision? Explain.

- There are some supported her like her friends that was being like her. But it doesn’t influence her
decision. Those reactions just made Sabrina’s more emotional or her mental state.

7. Do you think gender reassignment should be legalized here in the Philippines? Explain your answer by
presenting factual pros and cons of this matter (laws and other scientific facts).

- For me, I think so? Because we all know that in the Philippines mostly some people are conservative
about gender. And if it is legalized, I think those people who in needed would be happier. Because in our
society gender equality is not followed properly. And it can serve right for the LGBTQ+ community.

8. What are your three (3) learning insights after learning all about gender reassignment and watching the
film? Start your statement by saying 'Before learning all about gender reassignment and before watching
the film, I used to think that (insert thought). After learning all about gender reassignment and after
watching the film, I now think that (insert thought).
- Before learning all about gender reassignment and before watching the film, I used to think that
gender reassignment I used to believe that gender reassignment is a desire in some people.
After learning all about gender reassignment and after watching the film, I now think that, can
benefit some people who are more needed and those who are unhappy with their current sex
and for mental state.

- Before learning all about gender reassignment and before watching the film, I used to think that
having those problem is okay to handle or more like easy to handle. After learning all about
gender reassignment and after watching the film, I now think that, its not that easy especially
for those people having that issue. And respect is the more important.
