Це не таємниця, що для багатьох абітурієнтів найважчою частиною виявляється написання
власного висловлювання відповідно до поставленого комунікативного завдання, а простіше
кажучи - листа, а надто тоді, коли це стосується іноземної мови.
Тут навряд чи вдасться вгадати чи прорахувати. А враховуючи, що за письмову роботу
можна отримати до 14 балів, не варто втрачати можливості підготуватись до нього якомога
ретельніше.

Звичайно, перш ніж братися до написання творів, потрібно значно підвищити свій рівень
знань, “підтягнути” граматику і підучити лексику. Не переживайте, якщо перший твір вийшов
не таким, яким би хотілося, але з кожним наступним, будьте певні, виходитиме все краще і
краще.

А тепер по порядку. Перше і найголовніше: уважно прочитайте завдання, та визначте тип

висловлювання, який вам прийдеться написати. Він може бути неофіційним напівофіційним
або офіційним. Це допоможе вам правильно розпочати свій лист, оскільки кожен з видів
листів має свої норми етикету. Наприклад, неофіційні (особисті) листи, зазвичай, пишуть
друзям чи родичам. Під час написання таких листів використовується неофіційний стиль,
для якого характерна розмовна лексика, та використання фразових дієслів та скорочень.
До напівофіційних відносять листи до осіб, з якими автор знайомий не дуже близько
( редактор газети, журналу, радіопрограми). Під час написання таких листів
використовується напівофіційний стиль, для якого характерне вживання нейтральних,
літературних, формальних слів та виразів, більш ввічливих зворотів, ніж у особистих листах,
менша кількість скорочень, фразових дієслів та сталих виразів, а також можливість
використання запитальних та спонукальних речень. У таких листах використовують окремі
вирази, притаманні офіційному стилю.
Офіційні листи - це, як правило,листи-заяви та листи-скарги. Їх надсилають людям, з якими
ви не знайомі близько, але ці люди працють на офіційних посадах (директори, менеджери
різних установ, ділові партнери). Під час написання таких листів використовується офіційний
стиль, для якого характерний ввічливий, нейтральний тон, а також вживання офіційної
лексики (пасивних конструкцій, формальних слів-зв’язок, відповідних форм привітання та
прощання). Важливо пам’ятати, що неприйнятним є вживання розмовних виразів, і
скорочених форм.
Проте, не залежно від типу листа, починати слід з привітання.

Greeting

Наприклад, якщо ви пишете лист до друга, ви можете почати зі слів Dear friend, Hi Tom або,
емоційніше, My dearest friend. А от якщо лист офіційний, то тут краще використати Dear Sir
or Madam, або To the Editor якщо людина для вас є невідомою, або вказуючи прізвище Dear
Mr Pitt, Dear Mrs Jolie.

Introduction або opening remarks

Якщо ви отримали лист від друга, не забудьте подякувати йому, використовуючи фрази:
It was great to get your letter. /Thanks for your letter. /It was lovely to hear from you.

Не завадило б висловити ті емоції, які викликав у вас його лист:

It was sad to hear...,/I’m happy that you…

Також можете поцікавитися у друга станом справ, здоров’я, запитати які новини.
What’s the news?/How are you? I hope you are well./
I was glad to know you are fine I’m OK, too.
Обов’язково кількома фразами прокоментуйте новини, які дізналися з його листа, нагадайте
йому про що саме він вам писав, і на які питання ви надалі відповідатимете. ( I’d like to
answer your questions about….) тобто згадайте причину і дайте відповідь на питання
«Чому ви пишете цей лист?»

Якщо в завданні вказано, що лист ви пишете першими, обов’язково узагальнено вкажіть

причину.
Можливо це лист-запрошення, тоді його слід починати з фрази: I'm writing to invite you to…
лист-вибачення: I'm really sorry that I forgot about...
лист-подяка: I'm writing to thank you so much for...
лист-привітання: I'm writing to congratulate you on passing your exams...

Якщо ви повинні написати лист, в якому просите поради, можна скористатися наступними
шаблонами:
I am writing to ask for your advice. /Can you give me your advice?/I’ve got a problem and I
need your advice.

Інші корисні фрази:

I thought I’d write and let you know that….

The reason I’m writing is ….
Sorry, I’ve taken so long to put pen to paper, but…
I apologise for the fact that I haven’t written for…

Що стосується офіційного листа, в ньому можна використати наступні фрази залежно від
змісту завдання:
Thank you for contacting us./I apologize for not getting in contact with you before now.
В наступному реченні, коротко введіть у суть справи, щоб читач розумів, з якої причини ви до
нього звертаєтеся: I am writing in connection with… /I am writing with regard to…/In reply
to your e-mail, here are.../Could you give me some information about…/I am writing with
regard to your …(recent review of the…)
I feel I have to express my consent / disagreement with…

Інші корисні фрази:

I would like to apply for …

I am writing to apply for the position…
With reference to your advertisement…
I am writing in post of your advertisement…
I am writing to enquire whether…

Main body

Наступний етап - основна частина. Саме тут вам прийдеться розкрити три умови, дані у
завданні. Пам’ятайте, що всі вони повинні бути згадані у листі, оскільки саме так можна
отримати найбільшу кількість балів. (по 2 бали за кожну повністю розкриту умову). Якщо вам
важко висловити думку кількома реченнями, спробуйте скласти хоча б одне речення
відповідно до питання, щоб мати шанс отримати хоча б 1 бал. Основна частина обов’язково
має бути структурована за змістовими абзацами. Звичайно, якщо вам не вдається висловити
свою думку у трьох абзацах, їх можна об’єднати у два, але поєднані за змістом.
Тут вам варто пам’ятати, що потік свідомості це добре лише у творах Джойса. На ЗНО ваш
твір повинен бути побудований логічно, а текст послідовним та зв’язним.
Для кращої звязності твору, є чимала кількість з’єднувальних елементів. Наприклад: firstly,
secondly, in conclusion, so, furthermore, anyway, to my mind, in my opinion, as far as I am
concerned, in my view.
Вони зроблять ваш лист цікавішим і легшим для сприйняття.
Варто пам’ятати, що вам необхідно продемонструвати широкий спектр знання лексики за
темою, що запропована в умові.

Також вам можуть стати у пригоді наступні вступні фрази:

Завершуючи неофіційний лист, обов’язково підведіть підсумки написаного,задайте кілька

питань своєму другу, пов’язаних з темою (таким чином, ви покажете своє бажання
продовжувати листування); не забудьте передати привітання батькам, побажати всього
найкращого, попросити не зволікати з відповіддю.
Кінцівка обов’язково повинна містити фрази такого типу:
That’s all my news for now. Write back soon…
Well, I’d better go and do some work! Once again, well done….
Please, write me soon and tell me all your news.
Well, that’s all my news. I’d better end now, because…
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Well, that's all for now./Bye for now.

Варто пам’ятати, що фінальні речення для офіційного та неофіційного листа відрізняються.

Завершувати офіційний лист варто словами:
Thank you for your help.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully...(name surname).
Кілька порад:
1. Часто учні цікавляться питанням, коли найкраще писати письмову роботу: на початку
екзамену, чи вкінці. Найкращий варіант це спочатку написати твір, потім приступити до інших
завдань, і вкінці іспиту перевірити себе, перечитавши ще раз. Можливо саме на цей раз ви
помітите помилки, які не “кидалися в очі” спочатку.
2. Якщо не знаєте, яке скорочення краще використовувати: Miss або Mrs, так як вам
невідомий сімейний статус жінки, використовуйте нейтральне Ms.
3. Звертання такого типу Professor, Dean, Governor, Captain, Admiral, , Senator скорочувати не
можна
4. Якщо пишете лист двом людям, вкажіть обидва імені в звертанні
5. Пишіть розбірливо, інакше вашу роботу можуть не читати.
6. Активно використовуйте вставні слова, надто багато шаблонних фраз використовувати не
варто.
7. Використовуйте увесь ваш словниковий запас, але в міру, аби слово було доречним.
8. Не забувайте про час ─ не пишіть усе у Present Simple.
9. Не відхиляйтеся від теми, заданої у завданні, але будьте креативними!
10. Щоб лист був повноцінним, ставте до кожного абзацу питання “чому” і намагайтеся дати
на нього відповідь.
11. Будувати речення слід граматично привильно, якщо не впевнені, краще перефразуйте.

Для цілісної картини додаю завдання та лист, який набрав максимальну кількість балів
на ЗНО кілька років тому.

You have received a letter from your pen-friend in which he/she complains that his/ her parents
want him/her to read classical authors, while he/she is fond of fantasy. Write a letter to your pen-
friend in which you tell him/her
• whether your parents influence your choice of books to read
• what is your favorite literary genre and why
• where you usually get books you’d like to read

Dear friend,

It is sad to hear about your parents’ influence on your reading preferences. If they like
classical authors, it does not mean that you must be fond of reading them too. Try to
talk and persuade them. They must understand you.

As for me, my parents have never told me what to read or what music to listen to. They
always teach me to be independent and make any choice myself.
Speaking about literature I must admit that my favourite genre is fantasy, too. I adore
reading about events or places which cannot be seen in real life. Reading fantasy gives
me enormous portion of ideas and emotions. It inspires me to be creative.

Although there is one little problem. As usual, I borrow books from our school library,
but I have already read almost all of them, and nothing interesting is left there. So, I
made up my mind to search for something fresh and exciting in the internet.
Unfortunately, reading online turned out to be not so useful for my eyes. They get tired
quickly.

Maybe you have got some nice books. I would be grateful to you for those you liked
most of all and your reasons why.

А також розглянемо лист-скаргу і фрази, які допоможуть скласти лист такого типу. Лист-
скарга повинен бути написаний у формальному стилі, тому всі фрази-звертання, які ми
розглянули вище, можуть бути використані для написання такого листа.

В частині листа-скарги можливо використовувати наступні фрази:

I’m writing with regard to ….. – я пишу з приводу ….
I’m writing in response to … - я пишу у відповідь на …..
I’m writing in order to complain about …. – я пишу, щоб поскаржитися на ….

Наступна частина листа-скарги, який потрібно написати на ЗНО з англійської мови – це

роз’яснення суті скарги. В даній частині можна використовувати наступні фрази:
First of all/In the first place … - перш за все …
The first problem is …. – перша проблема …
My first complain is … – моя перша скарга …
The first thing I would like to draw your attention to is …. – перше, до чого я б хотів(-ла)
привернути вашу увагу …

Після цього в листі на ЗНО з англійської мови слід перейти до інших скарг (якщо вони є):
Not only … but also ….. – не лише …, а й …
In addition to this …- плюс до всього …
The attitude was also unacceptable … - відношення було також неприйнятним

В наступній частині листа-скарги на ЗНО з англійської мови слід висловити ваші побажання
(які дії необхідно прийняти, щоб задовольнити вашу скаргу):
I suggest that you replace the …. – я сподіваюсь, ви заміните …
I would be grateful if you could give me a refund – була б вдячна, якщо б ви повернули мені
гроші.

Закінчувати лист-скаргу на ЗНО з англійської мови слід наступним чином:

I look forward to hearing from you – з нетерпінням чекаю вашої відповіді
I look forward to receiving your explanation – з нетерпінням чекаю вашої відповіді, вашого
пояснення
I look forward to receiving a full refund – з нетерпінням чекаю повернення коштів

Після цього в листі на ЗНО з англійської мови вживаємо такі вирази як:
Yours faithfully/sincerely, Alex Felton – щиро Ваш, Апекс Фелтон (наприклад).
