Critique on the Definition of Terms


Direction: Critique on the sample definition of terms below through answering the given
questions.

Definition of Terms

The following terms were defined operationally or conceptually to provide better


understanding of the study:
Academic Performance. It refers to the scores of the students in control and experimental
group in the pre-test and post-test.
Computer-aided Instruction (CAI). It encompasses a broad range of computer
technologies that supplement the classroom learning environment and can dramatically increase a
science student’s access to information.
Conventional Method. This refers to the strategy that was applied and used in teaching
Physical science in the control group particularly in conducting the experiments. They used the real
laboratory apparatus in conducting experiments. Instruction was based on the DepEd curriculum
guide.
Physics Education Technology (PhET). It is an interactive simulation application that was
used by the experimental group in conducting the experiments to employ discovery approach
without using a real laboratory apparatus.
Simulation. This refers to the PhET Interactive Simulation in which it provides the students
an opportunity to perform the experiment in a set-up that looks like the actual set-up.
