Question 1:

a. What is your view on the effectiveness of Accenture‘s code of business

ethics?
Prior to the 2017 COBE, the company's Code was ineffective since it did not keep
pace with the company's evolving ideals and expectations for employees throughout
the decade of its validity. There was a lack of guidance since employees may have
difficulty understanding what was expected of them or determining if they were
operating in accordance with the company's ethical ideals. It does not appear to be a
matter of motivation or personal constraints, but rather a mismatch between the
code and the people.

Other concerns arose in addition to the lack of a current view of the preceding
code. For example, it was not connected with the company's compliance and other
programs and policies that had been established around the code after its inception.
Outdated company ethics standards and procedures may create uncertainty during
decision-making, leading workers to mistrust and worry about compliance. It was
also a very big PDF document, far too comprehensive and far too long to search
for certain criteria. It failed to adapt to the changing nature of business and
technology. Furthermore, it was extremely marketing-oriented and did not reflect
the type of behavior that the corporation expected of their workers as individuals.
b. How would you evaluate its effectiveness?
Accenture should allow our people to utilize solid judgment, behave responsibly, and
shout out with assurance.

Accenture's Code of Business Ethics enables its people to make ethical behavior a
natural part of what we do every day—with one another, our customers, our business
partners, and our networks.

Accenture states that "Our Code is more than a record..." It's what we accept, how
we live, and how we lead. It's pervasive in everything we do. It's how we improve our
business performance and build on Accenture's reputation in the commercial center.
It's the way we prioritize our consumers and employees. It is our approach of placing
respectability without hesitation... each of us, in each second, each day.

Question 2:

a. What potential roles do you see Accenture’s “ethics bot” fulfilling?

A chatbot that Accenture has created and developed was COBE, a bot that
supports ethical behavior for employees within the company making ethical
decisions.
It can be one of the important factors, which affect the decision-making process
since it offers its users a private means of getting the data and resources they
require whenever they need them. The chatbot is part of Accenture's initiative to
modernize its Code of Business Ethics for the digital era and strengthen its
commitment to ethical company behavior. The business has transformed its Code
from a legal document into an interactive, mobile-first tool that encourages its
worldwide staff to act with integrity by utilizing design thinking and combining
intelligent technology. This is an approach to promoting ethical behavior within the
company and ensuring that employees have access to the resources they need to
make ethical decisions. Furthermore, by using this chatbox, the organization can
improve the communication with their employees and identify problems that they
are struggling with. AI and machine learning allows the chatbot to encourage
ethical conduct inside the firm since it can adapt to shifting trends and deliver
appropriate knowledge in real time.

b. Do you see these roles favorably or with some doubt?

As for whether these roles are favorable or not, it is important to note that the “ethics
bot” is designed to help employees make ethical decisions and ensure that they are
following the company’s Code of Business Ethics. This can help Accenture maintain
a positive reputation and avoid legal or financial issues that could arise from
unethical behavior.
Still, It has some limitations that need to be considered. Because bots are built on
top of an abstract code of ethics, it cannot solve all problems in many different
cases. Not only that, if the bot gives wrong advice, it may be right with the moral
code but not suitable in some specific cases, which can lead to conflicts or
undesirable outcomes. Moreover, if employees rely on bots too much, it will cause
lack of problem-solving skills, responsibility and accountability for their ethical
actions.
