GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT CAPACITY TRAINING

NARRATIVE REPORT

October 6, 2023. Caramay Elementary School conducted the Gender and Development Capacity
Training at Tonying’s Place, Puerto Princesa City. This capacity training aims to capacitate teachers by
providing better understanding on the purpose and importance of GAD, Gender-Equality and Impact to
the work place, school children and in the school community.

Day 1, Registration started at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning followed by a short opening
program facilitated by the person in charge. Mr. Gilmar D. Saclet, Teacher III, GAD Focal Person
welcomed the participants with so much anticipation of active participation and cooperation among the
participants. Mr. Diego M. Delotindo, Master Teacher I was tasked for the presentation of the participants
and speakers, He was also presented the statement of purpose and the mechanics of the 2-day GAD
capacity training. On her Inspirational Message, Mrs. Elma C. Gabinete, Head Teacher III, expresses her
thanks and gratitude to the organizers, facilitators, speakers, and teachers who are in way or another have
contributed to the success of the training. She also gave emphasis on the importance of GAD Training as
we have experienced and encountered diverse learners. At last, she reiterated the we should embrace
changes, love for work with heart and compassion.
Session 1. Mr. Gilmar D. Saclet was the speaker. He was presented the following topics: Basic
Advocay Principle of GAD, GAD as Development Approach, Sex and Gender, Gender as Social
Construct and Gender Division of Labor. The speaker’s delivered his topics very well, we learned a lot
from his presentation and discussion. I am thankful for this opportunity to learned, relearned and
unlearned many things and ideas that I will be used as I go back to my station.
Session 2. Another meaningful topic was presented by Mr. Gilmar D. Saclet such as Social
Institutions that Influence Gender Identity and Promote Gender Bias, Manifestation of Gender Bias and
Policy Imperatives of GAD. These topics enlightened us teachers in many ways. I learned various and
proper approaches on how to effectively manifest Gender Bias and most importantly understand the
Social Institutions that influence gender identity.
Day 2. Session 3. Mrs. Elma C. Gabinete, Head Teacher III was the speaker on the topic about
the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) RA 9710. She was presented the topic to the best of her ability and
let us understand what empowered woman is. On her last note, she was quoted this quote “ Strong women
don’t have ‘attitude’, we have standard.
Session 4. Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act (RA 9262) was presented by Mr.
Diego M. Delotindo, Master Teacher I. This topic helps us understand the law that seeks to address the
prevalence of violence against women and their children or the VAWC Law which results in or is likely
in physical, sexual, psychological harm, suffering or economic abuse.
Session 5. The speaker was Mrs. May Shena D. Beatizola, Teacher III, who was tasked to discuss
The Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law) RA 11313. She was presented various prohibited act which
include Cursing, Wolf-Whistling, Catcalling, Leering, Intrusive Gazing, Taunting, Unwanted Invitation,
Misogynistic, Transphobic, Homophobic, and Sexist Slurs.
At exactly 4 in the afternoon the closing program was started facilitated by the Grade 2 teachers.
In the end, The Caramay ES GAD Capacity Training was done successfully and accordingly.
