Advertisements are a written piece of information which are published in the newspaper or
magazines, advertised on TV or radio to attract the attention of the public. They are a kind of
public announcement asking for /giving information about products, missing persons, pets and so
on.

Points to remember-

• They are characterized into columns according to different classes.

• They’re written in short, catchy phrases and words. NO SENTENCES are to be used.
• The language should be simple, factual and formal.
• Description of the goods or services is written in 50 words.

A. JOB VACANCY
1. SITUATION VACANT
• Begin with ‘WANTED’ OR ‘REQUIRED’
• State the name of company
• Mention the post and the number of vacancies
• State minimum qualifications and experience desired
• Give age, sex and preferential qualifications.
• Mention pay scale and perks.
• State the mode of applying clearly
• End with contact address and phone number.
Sample- You are the Personnel Manager of Green Bio – Products Ltd Sec 18, Industrial Area,
Faridabad. You need an efficient P.A/ Stenographer for your office. Write an advertisement for
the ‘Situation vacant’ column of a local daily.
