the question.  Literacy Skills
b. mores

c. laws One member of Group 2 will answer

the question.

One member of Group 3 will answer

ABSTRACTION the question.

Both Socialization and Enculturation result One member in Group 4 will answer
to developing norms and values. the question.

As explained:

Values- defines as collective conceptions of

what is considered good, desirable, and
proper- or bad, undesirable and improper,

Example: RESPECT
Norms- are those culturally determined rules
that guide people regarding what is “right”,
“wrong”, “proper”, “and improper”.

Example:
1) Filipino shows respect to the elders
through pagmamano.
2) Japanese shows respect through bowing.

The following are forms of norms:

1. Folkways- * customary patterns that

specify what is socially correct and proper in
everyday life.
* repetitive or typical habits
and patterns of expected behaviour followed
within a group or community.

2. Mores- *define what is morally right and

morally wrong.
* standards of conduct with ethical
and moral significance

3. Laws- *regulate and control the people’s

behaviour and conduct

Now, let’s go on the given pictures that you

have classified during your group activity.
Let us check the pictures under folkways.
Are these correct?

Very Good! The pictures involve using “po”

and “opo” when a person is talking to an
elder. Another one is kissing the hand of the Students will listen on the discussion

another is wearing school uniform as a
student. Moreover, in here, one another
example of folkway is covering your mouth
when sneezing due to cold. We all know that
cold is a communicable respiratory disease Students will say yes!
which means it is a disease that affects your
airways and lungs caused by infection,
smoking cigarettes or by breathing in second
hand cigarette smoke, or other forces of air
pollution. It is a disease that is spread from  PPST 1.1.2 Apply

bodily fluids; breathing in an airborne virus; teaching areas:
or by being bitten by an insect. So, given that Science 9 on
it can be spread out, covering your nose such Respiratory Disease
as wearing facemask should be done which and Health 8 on
is already an expected behaviour in the Communicable
society. Diseases

Let us also check the pictures under mores.

Okay, these are all correct. So here, the
pictures shown are stealing, lying, gossiping
and disrespecting your parents.

Now, let’s go to the laws. So the pictures

shown were (1) law against Human
Trafficking, (2) law against Substance Abuse
such as using illegal drugs, (3) law against
murder, and lastly, (4) law against women
and child violence. Here, we all know that
these laws are already implemented and
strengthened in our society. Just like for
example is the Anti-Violence Against
Women and Their Children Act of 2004 or
also called as RA 9262. It is an act defining
violence against women and their children,
providing protective measures for victims,
prescribing penalties therefore and for other
purpose. This Act recognizes the need to
protect the family and its members
particulary women and children, from
violence and threats to their safety and
security.
