COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT ASSESSORS SCRIPT ON THE CONDUCT OF COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

As a competency assessor, you must provide a supportive environment before starting with the assessment activity. You must ensure that the
environment is suitable for the assessment and the candidates are relaxed and not apprehensive. As soon as you have admitted the
candidates, say:

Part I: INTRODUCTION

of assessment and will not assess you.

PART II: CHECKING CANDIDATES’ DOCUMENTS

PART III: SETTING OF EXPECTATION

all my observation on my Rating Sheet. I will give you further instructions about your
demo later.
3. Following your DEMO is an Oral Exam relevant to your qualification. We will have your
oral questioning here in the Lecture Room.
4. After you’ve gone through all these assessment methods, I will give you a feedback of
your overall performance and will announce the result of your assessment.
5. Lastly, I will give you further instructions of what to do in case you are found
Competent or Not Yet Competent.

PART IV: ORIENTATION

Before we move on to the next assessment proper, I would like to discuss with you important concepts and significant information
regarding your assessment

 Purpose of Assessment
Ask the candidates: “What is the purpose of going through this assessment?” In addition, you should also state that:

“This assessment is for certification of your competence in a particular skill which qualifies you for jobs that may require national
certificate”

 The Assessment Center


Provide a brief description of your institution. Give a quick tour by telling the candidates directions to some room locations and
facilities. Ex. “If you walk straight this hall, turn left when you reach the end and you’ll see our kitchen and dining area. It is
where you’ll perform your demo later”

 The Tools, Materials, Equipment and Consumables


Explain the tools and materials needed for the assessment based on your competency

 The PPE
Explain Personal Protective Equipment and their uses in times of hazards and threats in the work area. Cite possible accidents
or threats that could happen during the assessment and how preventive measures are done to avoid it.

 Confidentiality of Results of Assessment


“The Assessment Package is kept in a secured place and rest assure that non- related parties do not have access to any of these
documents. Only the assessment center and your HR or Supervisor may have a copy of these upon request.”

 Two Results of Assessment (C and NYC)


“We only have two results of the assessment: COMPETENT and NYC or NOT YET COMPETENT. If you are found competent, you
will receive a certificate from TESDA. However, if your outcome is NYC, you have to be scheduled for re-assessment.”

 Appeal Process
“If after your result is announced and you are unhappy with your assessment result or you feel that there is something wrong
with the assessment process that leads you to an undesirable outcome, we have an Appeal Process wherein you can write an
appeal letter to the assessment venue manager and submit it before the assessment ends.”

In a short while we will already proceed with the actual assessment process.

PART VIII: FEEDBACKING

If the candidate was found to be COMPETENT, say:

You performed the tasks within the standard requirement of the Qualification. Note: Present the rating sheets to the candidate
to affix his signature on the candidate’s signature portion this is a proof that he accepts your assessment decision. You(Assessor)
will explain to the candidate that he will be the one to get his CARS from the venue manager then he can go immediately to any
DHL Branch nearest to him. Just bring P50 for the certificate fee and P75 for the courier payment. Just wait 3 to 5 working days
for his certificate where it is addressed.

If the candidate was found NOT COMPETENT, say:

Mr. /Ms. /Mrs. (State the name of the candidate), I am sorry you were not able to perform within the standard requirements
of the qualification you have to review /practice the activities related to the competency requirements of the qualification
further. You come back for reassessment when you feel confident enough that you have acquired the competency. Don’t worry
you will only be reassessed on the part of the activity that you were found to be not yet competent. You may request for
rescheduling from the assessment venue manager.

PART IX: EVALUATION

Inform the candidate that a representative from the assessment center will be handling
over an Assessment Evaluation Form and should be evaluated honestly for the
improvement of both Assessment Center & Assessor.

NOTE: REVIEW AND COMPLETE THE RATING SHEETS TOGETHER WITH OTHER DOCUMENTS BEFORE SUBMISSION.
