KEY CONCEPTS
Introduce the Arc length and Area of a r

We may obtain the values of the six circular functions for any real integer (𝑠) by utilizing the uni
the unit circle with radius one (1) and the equation x 2+ y 2=1.

We travel |𝑠| units around the circumference of the circle starting

at point (1,0), clockwise if 𝑠 > 0 and counterclockwise if 𝑠 < 0.
We'll call P(s) the arc's terminal. The six circular functions are
defined as follows if P(s) is the point (𝑥,𝑦) on the unit circle.

We've already established that 𝑠=𝑟𝜃. Since 𝑟 = 1, 𝑠 must be

equal to 𝜃. This indicates that 𝜃 has a radian measure of 𝑠.
The following illustrates the six trigonometric functions:

The value of the six trigonometric functions varies as we go from the first quadrant to the fourth quadrant.
