Preparation of standard solutions for solid-

liquid materials
(what is the concentration?
Usually the concentration of a solution is expressed in
several ways, the most important of which is the molar
concentration (M)
Molarity definition
Molarity (M) is the amount of a substance in a certain
volume of solution. Molarity is defined as the moles of a
solute per liters of a solution. Molarity is also known as the
molar concentration of a solution.

Molarity formula and units

M = moles solute / liters solution
Why is molarity important in chemistry?
Molarity is very important in chemistry for one big reason. It
is the measurement of concentration in any mixture. The
molarity of any solution is a way to know the specific
elements or compounds which are present in any solution.
Preparation of ( 0.05M ) Na2CO3 in 250
mL
Chemicals and equipment :
1. . na2co3
2. .distilled water as asolvent
3. .washing bottle
4. .volumetric flask of 500 ml
5. .beaker
6. .glass rode
7. .spatula
8. .electronic balance
Procedure :
we need to prepare
( 0.05M ) in ( 250 mL ) .
Weigh ( 1.325gm ) of , Dissolve and complete
the volume in volumetric flask with ( 250 mL ) by using
distilled water .

After the calculation and showing the required weight

of na2co3
We put the required weight in the beaker and after
lifting it from electronic balace distilled water is added
by washing bottle and mixed well by the glass rode
and then we put it in the volumetric flask and it is
diluted to reach the volume limit of 250 ml..so that the
total volume contains the required weight and the
given molarity

Sodium carbonate in English , is a chemical compound

with the formula Na 2 CO 3 , also called by the common
name soda ash or washing soda , it exists in the normal
form in the form of a white powder, its solutions in water
are alkaline . It can be found naturally as a metal or
synthetically, and this is currently done by
the solvay process
Discussion
Why is Na2co3 considered a primary standard
Because of :
1. Its high purity
2. It has a large molecular mass
3. Stable and not liquefied or florid
4. Specific efficacy

Is NaNO3 acidic, basic, or neutral?

Since NaNO3 is a neutral salt, the solution is neutral.
what is the color of the prepared solution
has no color

Do we need to warm up
No we didn't need

What happens if the mark on the

volumetric flask is not adhered to, such
that the liquid level is lower or higher
than the local mark
If the liquid level is less than the mark, the
concentration will be more than 0.05M, but if the
liquid is higher than the mark level, the
concentration will be less than 0.05M
