Some think that governments should support retired people financially while others believe

they should take care of themselves. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
It is argued that it is the government’s responsibility to provide retired citizens with financial
and health care aid. However, I do think that they should save money to take care of themselves
when they get older.
On the one hand, old people who have retired should receive related-money support from the
national budget given that they made a great contribution to society. For example, doctors
entirely devote a great amount of money, time, and effort to learning and researching new and
effective treatment methods to cure many patients who get life-threatening illnesses such as
heart attack and lung cancer. This can help to significantly increase the survival chances of
victims. Therefore, if retired people are supported financially by the government, they can feel
that their devotion and contribution are highly meaningful and recognized by society.
On the other hand, I do believe that they should not entirely depend on the financial assistance
of the government. This is because the national budget will not meet all the needs of older
people, which means that if a large number of retired people receive money from the
government, it can put heavy financial pressure on the state budget. Furthermore, in the case
the government allocates money to numerous older people, this can lead to a money shortage
which should be used to solve pressing social issues such as environmental pollution or the
housing crisis. Therefore, to have a stable life, old people should save money when they are
working.
In conclusion, it is essential for the government to assist retirees with money and take care of
them, but I do believe that it is better for them to save certain amounts of money to stay
financially independent.
