III. Procedure

Activity:

1. Begin by asking students to think of a time when they


communicated with someone for each of the four functions of
communication: control, motivation, emotional expression, and
information.
2. Write their responses on the slide deck presentation.

Analysis:

 Once students have had a chance to share their examples,


lead a discussion on the four functions of communication.
 What are the similarities and differences between the four
functions?
 Why are all four functions important in effective
communication?

Abstraction:

Explain the five functions of communication:

 Control or regulation: Communication is used to control or


regulate the behavior of others. For example, a parent might
use communication to tell their child to do their homework.
 Social interaction: Communication is used to build and

maintain social relationships. For example, friends might use


communication to catch up on each other's lives.
 Motivation or encouragement: Communication is used to
motivate or encourage others. For example, a teacher might
use communication to encourage their students to do their
best.
 Emotional expression: Communication is used to express
emotions. For example, a person might use communication to
tell someone how they are feeling.
 Information: Communication is used to share and gain
information. For example, a student might use communication
to ask their teacher a question about a homework assignment.

Application:

Have students practice identifying the functions of communication in


different situations. You can do this by giving them a series of scenarios or
by asking them to analyze a piece of media.
IV Evaluation Assess students' understanding of the four functions of communication by giving
them a quiz or asking them to complete a project.
V Differentiation For students who are struggling, provide them with more concrete examples of
each function of communication.
For students who are ahead, challenge them to think of creative ways to apply the
four functions of communication in different situations.
VI Extension Have students research different models of communication and how they relate to
the four functions of communication.
Have students create a presentation or video about the four functions of
communication.

Group each student by 10. Have them discussed
and enumerate the different kinds of literary forms that can
be found locally. Provide some samples. Assign 1 member to
report their answer to the class.
IV Evaluation Get ¼ sheet of Paper and identify the different Periods and it’s different literary

3. What lesson did you get from each story?

C. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss about Geographic, Linguistic and
Ethnic parts of the story. Discuss to them the different authors
and the importance of these stories as the representative piece
of literature in the Philippines.

Have the students perform activity in Page 25 by providing
exact Geographic, Linguistics, and Ethnic discuss in the story.

Provide a handout with a simple topic outline and ask students to analyze it in
groups.
