Wildwood Crest, NJ - April 12, 2023 - In response to Governor Chris Christie's veto of a
statewide smoking ban on beaches, Reges Oceanfront Resort takes proactive measures to declare
its private beachfront areas smoke-free, effective May 1, 2023.

The primary motivations behind Reges Oceanfront Resort's decision to enact a voluntary
smoking ban on its beachfront areas are to attract more families, by creating a more
family-friendly environment. Along with that, reges hopes to reduce waste and enhance beach
aesthetics. The elimination of smoking will help bring our beach environment back to its original

This policy change is a response to Governor Chris Christie's recent veto of a statewide smoking
ban on public beaches. While the beaches in Wildwood Crest are public, for the purpose of this
announcement, it is assumed that the strip of beach area in front of each oceanfront hotel is
privately owned by the respective hotel.
