1) By the end of the lesson most pupils should be able to tell their friends about their hobbies and
interests.
2) By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to write at least three sentences about their

SUCCESS CRITERIA

SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON:


1. Say some sentences about hobbies and interests.
2. Pupils stand up if the sentence you say is true for them.
3. For example: You like ____ . You don’t like ____ . Your favourite hobby / interest is ____.
4. Pupils then say sentences about your hobbies and interests.
5. Sit down if not true, stand up if true.

LESSON DEVELOPMENT:

6. Activity 1:
a. Write on board numbers 1 – 9.
b. Pupils look at sentence starters in p.4 Activity 3, then say a number for you to complete the
sentence.
c. Put a tick beside number on board. Repeat.
d. Distribute worksheet. Pupils listen to CD track 1-04 and complete sentences about people
on CD.
7. Activity 2:
a. Pupils watch a video on talking about hobbies and interest.

b. Then, guide pupils to write sentences about their hobbies and interests. (Assessment)
c. High proficiency: 6 sentences, Medium proficiency: 4 sentences, Low proficiency: 3
sentences (DS)
d. Invite a few pupils to read their sentences aloud.
e. CCE: Values: ask pupils why they think it’s important to have hobbies and interests.
f. Find out hobbies they would like to do when they are teenagers.
8. Activity 3:
a.Choose two pupils to read speech bubbles. (Activity 5 SB page 4)
b. Pupils work with a different partner and repeat dialogue substituting hobbies and interests
with theirs. (Assessment)
c. Pupils do p. 5 Activities 1, 2 and 4 to remind them about subject pronouns and possessive
adjectives.
d. If time, have pupils compare answers in pairs, then check as a class.
POST LESSON:
9. Play Is it true, is it false?:
a. Pupils write in capital letters TRUE and FALSE on two pieces of paper.
b. They take turns to say or make up a hobby or interest that a member of their family has. C.
c. Then ask: Is it true? Is it false?
