The purpose of this document is to outline the sequences and metthods of works
intended to be used for the Road
Ro crossing excavation for underground service of new
office building.

The Contractor reserves thee right to adapt the methods of execution asa contained in
this document, modification to
t this document if required from time to tim

specific site conditions.

Engineer’s approval will b be obtained after each phase of the w works prior to
continuation of the works as per Site Inspection and Test Program (ITP))

2. Scope

The scope of work cover tthe activities related to underground workks for the New
Ruwais Office Buildings Pro oject No: 0500604 at GASCO NPB area fro om the existing
GASCO Maintenance buildiing and civil building service tie up pointt. This method
statement covers all requirem
ments for excavation, fabrication, installation
n, inspection.

5. Responsibilities.
5.1 Project Manager /Cons

compliance with approved sspecifications. He shall review and ensure e that all shop
drawings and material subm mittals are presented to the COMPANY authorities
a with
adequate supporting docu uments. He shall control non-conforming products,
workmanship and implementting the required timely corrective actions. Ensure
E that the
required testing is undertake
en by approved independent laboratories.. Ensuring that
materials are inspected whenn delivered to site and it is complying with the

related to lifting works.
5.6 HSE Supervisor / HSE Of

including near-miss incidentt, hazard identification, risk management and

preparedness. He shall inve estigate and report all reportable acciden nts/incidents to
COMPANY authority and co ontractor management with recommendatition to improve
control measures for preventtion of the recurrence. He shall be the authoority to stop the
site activities due to an exxistence of unsafe condition. He shall ensure
e that all
personnel are attended HSE induction prior to the site assignment and strictly
following HSE regulations.

6. HSE Requirements.
6.1 Permit to Work (PTW)

8.1. Site Preparation.

8.2 General Aspect

• Before beginning wo ork, the CONTRACTOR shall ascertain the natu

ure and location
of all existing above
e and underground services and facilities on site and in
adjacent areas by inspecting available plans or, if necess sary, by hand
excavation. The COMPANY will make available, for review, any existing layout
drawings which cove er the area of work.

• CONTRACTOR will be rresponsible for confirmation of any such info

formation given.
All construction and installation work shall be executed accordin ing to approved
design drawing, speccification and general practice for Duct pipe e work.

• Contractor shall take

or interference during construction.

8.3 Excavation of Trench for underground Duct service. manually
• Excavation work shall be performed according to common exc
cavation unless
otherwise specified.

• Before starting excavatition for cable Duct, fire hydrant and portable
e pipe duct- the
location and elevation sshall be verified and marked on the ground & inspected by
consultant, so that thee duct excavation for the pipeline can be e excavated to
correct location and elevvation.

• Make diversion plan ass permitted by GASCO HSE department,, and close the
road with proper barrica
ades, signboards and battery operated flash
hing light as per
GASCO HSE requireme ents.

• Mark the width of the rroad cutting portion as per the approved d
drawing, where
road cutting excavation to be performed.

• Ensure that the depth h and width of the road crossing trench is as per the
approved specified dimeension of proposed duct bank.

• Excavations for duct co onstruction shall conform to the locations and elevations
indicated on the consttruction drawings for power duct, fire hyd drant &portable
water line duct works. ExExcavation shall extend a sufficient distanc
ce from edge of
concrete walls to allow w for the placement and removal of co oncrete forms,
installation of undergrou
und services, and for inspection. (to be approved by
COMPANY)
• Excavations adjacent to existing foundations (where the bottom of o excavation is
lower than the bottom o
of foundation) shall be limited to a minimum distance by an
imaginary line drawn 30
0degree horizontally from the bottom cornerr of the existing
foundation to the botto
om corner of the intended excavation. If the excavation
needs to be closer than
n the minimum, adequate steps shall be ta aken to prevent
cave-in or weakening off the soil beneath the existing foundation.

• Asphalt portion shall be cutting by hand operated disc cutter ,this is only providing
small groove to the dep pth 50mm on the both side of excavation le engthwise, after
that the portion of e excavated area asphalt shall be remove by Hand jack
hammer/ hand breake er(220v. electrical hand tools).The remain ning portion of
compacted earth by pic ickaxes and hand shovel.
