PIPING SYSTEM
Ihe Pipiny Systen consists of Suction pipes, Delivery pipe willh nceessuy vaves

BEFORE COMMISSIONING
1. Check whether all the joints are lcak proof and watertight.
2. Check the gauge glass and meter scale assembly of the measuring tank and see thal il ls
fixed water tight and vertically.
3. Check whether all the electric connection is corect.
4. See that the gauges are mounted on the correct position and their cocks closed.
STARTING UP
Fill the Reservoir tank to about , h capacity with any standard lube oil (about 50 Lirs). Su:ndard
Lube oils such as SAE 40or SAF: S0may be used for testing purposes. Normally the viscosity o!
the oil used should not exceed 2000 SSU at the working temperature. Keep the delivery val
open and start the pump set. When the pump is working normally the delivery valve mu be
closed partly to the required extent for the pump to develop the required pressure. There is a belt
in relief valveprovided in the pump. But by the provision of this relief valve it is not advisable to
fully close the delivery valve.
To stop the pump set simply switch off the power supply.
EXPERIMENTS
Start the pump and run it at a particular 'head' on it. This can be adjuIsted with the help ofthe
delivery valve provided. The pressure gauge reading has to be noted to find out the total head on
he pump.
The discharge can be calculated lrom the reading taken fron the Measuring Tank. The input
power is measured with the help of theEnergy meter supplied.
At the normal working spced the total head on the pump may be varied up to a maximum of 5
Kg/Sq. cm. The discharge will be slightly decreased as the working pressure increase on the punp
as a result of the leakage pastes therotor. The required nun1ber of readings can be tuken within the
maximum head range.
wuh this teu data the followinp characteristics can he studied and necessary uraphs can also he

MAINTENANCE
As these units are built verv sturdily, they do not require any routine or regular mamtenance,
however we recommend the following to be donc about one in a year to increase the life of the
elements.
beurings
Never run the pump without water in it, as this wouldcause damage to stufling box, bush
etc.
seriously affect
Never try to throttle the suction side of the pump to control discharge, as it would
the performance of the pump.
