JOURNAL ENTRY 01:

Nov 9,2023 – Research for Website Pages & Website Layout

This week I have created my homepage as well as six webpages; About Dyslexia, Getting
Assessed, Navigating the School System, Strategies for School Life, Self Assessment and
Resources.

In the All About Dyslexia webpage, the sub-pages are; what to look for, what does it feel
like and strengths. In the Getting Assessed webpage, the sub-pages are; phycho-
educational assessments and finding a psychologist. In the Navigating the School System
webpage, the sub-pages are; getting an IEP, importance of a case-worker, working with a
teacher and advocating for yourself. In the Strategies for School Life webpage, the sub-
pages are; technology, study and writing techniques, mindfulness and relationships. In
the Resources webpage, the sub-pages are; resources and APA resources. In the
Homepage there is an “about me” subpage. On the Homepage the main things I wanted
to highlight are; what to look for, what does it feel like, self-assessment, IEP,
relationships and technology.

I have completed all of the research and evidence for the following sections and
completed the final copy ready for population into my website:

A challenge I faced this week was that I fell behind what was laid out in my time schedule
for Monday/Wednesday as I was busy trying to complete other school assignments that I
was behind in. When falling behind in one particular class, I turn my focus toward this
class and turn away from the class that I feel I’m doing ok in. What happens is that I get
behind again but now in the class I put on hold to complete the class that I was behind
on previously. This has always been a challenge for me as I struggle to keep up with the
pace of my classes. What was great about this time, is that I had a schedule and I was
quickly able to regroup and get on track with what needed to be done. This allowed me
to catch up quicker and took some of the stress off of being behind as I knew what my
priorities were. I wasn’t procrastinating as I didn’t allow myself to get too far behind
where I get myself into trouble. This fits in with the core competency “Critical Thinking”
and specifically my weakness “I can assess my progress”.

Something I am anticipating with continue to be a bit of a struggle is that I am still

working in catching up in my other classes to ensure my assignments are completed for
my report card, that I may have to adjust my time scheduling again.

I am proud of my accomplishments this week particularly because of the amount of work

I got done, my ability to utilize my time schedule and for not giving up and working
through my challenges.

This week I am scheduling interviews, populating my webpages and subpages, writing my

All About Me and completing my research and evidence for some of the sections in my
Navigating the School System.
