Sub points of the Merits (M1 & M2) and Distinction (D1) criteria are listed against the given
task for your easy reference.

Assignment Scenario / Background

TASK 1: Data Collection (Interview of 30 participants)

You are required to do 30 interviews to determine the following:-

 The type of social media marketing that people prefer

 The type of business that people is more interested in spending every day
 What factors that can make them to be loyal to the company

[Note: The evidence for your interview should be attached in the report that you will be
submitting]

Write the report of your interview and summarize your findings in excel and Microsoft Word.
Determine the nature of the data (Qualitative, Quantitative, Discrete and Continuous)

By using any graph / chart of your choice, analyze the participants answer for the following:

30 interviews were conducted to two types of respondents comprising people from all walks of
lives. The aim was to find out the following:

 The type of social media marketing that people prefer

 The type of business that people is more interested in spending every day
 What factors that can make them to be loyal to the company
 The preferred method of payment
 Ideas for new shop in Brunei
 And to relate the above topic with the age, gender, occupation and salary

The nature of the data was found to be quantitative since it gives the types of things they
consider according to the survey and not whether those things are good or bad or that they
give opinions on the subject such as fully agree to totally disagree et cetera.

From the interview, the most popular social media marketing people prefer are ranked as
follows:

TASK 3: Mathematics Notebook

You are required to create a notebook which can either be in a textbook style or an informal
notebook for the three topics: Linear equations/ graphs, Venn Diagrams and Algebraic
Equations. The design for your notebook will be according to your creativity.

The topics that should be covered in the blog is as follow:-

1. Linear equations / graphs

2. Venn Diagram
3. Algebraic Equations

 Explanation of each topic and operations

o Linear equations / graphs [P3]
o Venn Diagram [P4]
o Algebraic Equations [P5]

An example of a linear equation is as shown on graph above.

Example: y = 2x + 1 is a linear equation:

The graph of y = 2x+1 is a straight line. When x increases, y increases but twice in
value, so we need 2x. When x is 0, y is already 1.

Example of solving Linear Equation

Solve: (3x + 5)/(x + 6) = 1

Solution:

(3x + 5)/(x + 6) = 1

⇒ 3x + 5 = 1(2x + 6)

⇒ 3x + 5 = 2x + 6

⇒ 3x - 2x = 6 - 5

⇒x=1

Therefore, x = 1 is the answer for the equation (3x + 5)/(x + 6) = 1

Venn diagram

A Venn diagram is an illustration of the relationships between and among sets, groups
of objects that share something in common.

Venn diagrams enable users to organise information visually so they are able to see
the relationships between two or three sets of items and they can then identify
similarities and differences.

Algebraic Equation
An equation is a mathematical sentence that has two equal sides separated by an
equal sign. 4 + 6 = 10 is an example of an equation.
For example, the equation x + 2 = 6 x + 2 = 6 x+2=6x, plus, 2, equals, 6 has a variable
in it. ... The value of the variable that makes a true equation is called a solution to
the equation.
Algebraic equations are solved by working out what numbers the letters represent. We
can turn the two simple equations above into algebraic equations by substituting x
for one of the numbers: 2 + 2 = x. We know that 2 + 2 = 4, which means that x must
equal 4. The equation answer is therefore x = 4. 5 + 3 > 3 + x.
