1. Introduction to Project Management

The day-1 started with inauguration session by Er. Ashok Kumar, CEO, CMTI Bengaluru
and Dr. Naresh Kumar. B. G

The following points were highlighted in the project management

1. Highlighted about the roles and responsibilities of engineer in project.


2. Mentioned about Metro project, Bullet train project, MTHL project, DRDO project and
3D printing technologies construction happenings in various locations.
3. Highlighted about what is Initiation stage, planning stage, construction stage and
monitoring stage.
4. Challenges faced by engineers in site activities.
2. Sequence of Construction & Reading of Construction Drawings

This session was handled by Er. Yashas.

The following points were taught in the session

1. Taught about various types of drawings come across in the sites.


2. Taught about carpet area, built up area and floor area.
3. Taught how to visualize and read the drawings.
4. Explained about step-by-step sequence of construction.
5. Individually made all the students to read drawings.
6. Explained about units followed in site and conversions of units.
3. 3D with Google Sketch up
This session was handled by Ar. Pendyala Srinivasulu, Architect, Bengaluru.

The following points were taught in the session

1. Introduction to Google sketch up.


2. Taught about every command in the google sketch up.
3. Taught how to start with the plan and enter in to 3D elevation.
4. Explained about how to draw wall, doors and windows etc.
5. Hands on experience were done with one-to-one interaction.
6. A plan was given has assignment to prepare complete 3D and later they rated each
student by awarding marks.
4. Painting and Plumbing
This session was handled by Mr. Arun kumar, Asian Paints Color Academy, Mysuru.

The following points were taught in the session

1. Introduction to Painting and plumbing


2. Purpose/Necessity of painting and plumbing.
3. Defects in painting and various types of paints.
4. Fixtures and components come across in plumbing.
5. Importance of fixtures and as an engineer thing to be known in the plumbing.
6. Hands on experience were planned other day.
5. Safety in Construction

This session was handled by Er. Yashas, Bengaluru.

The following points were taught in the session

1. Introduction to Safety in construction.


2. Importance of safety in construction.
3. Work procedure to followed to attain safety.
4. Importance of wearing helmet and different types of helmets in construction premises.
5. Construction regulatory signs.
6. Quantity Surveying

This session was handled by Er. Yashas, Bengaluru.

The following points were taught in the session

1. Introduction to Quantity Surveying.


2. Role and job of quantity surveyor.
3. Quantity surveying taught from foundation to roof along with plastering and painting.
4. Items of work was given and made them to calculate manually.
5. Each items in construction were done with quantity calculation.
7. Bar Bending Schedule

This session was handled by Er. Virupaksha, Bengaluru.

The following points were taught in the session

1. What is bar bending schedule?


2. Importance of bar bending schedule.
3. Each structural components were made students to calculate individually.
4. Drawings were given to assess the reinforcements.
5. Taught about quantity calculation.
8. Centre line Marking

This session was handled by Er. Yashas, Bengaluru.

The following points were taught in the session

1. What is Centre line marking?


2. Various methods of marking.
3. Centre line marking was done manually with 345 method.
4. Each student was made them to understand and execute as per drawing.
5. Various types of drawings were given to different team to execute.
9. M S Project Planning
This session was handled by Er. Prem, Chennai.

The following points were taught in the session

1. What is M S Project?
2. What is planning and role of planning in construction sector.
3. Various elements come across in MS Project.
4. Gantt chart, work break down structure, CPM and PERT were taught.
5. All the above components were assign to one project and taught each element to do in
planning.
10. Site Visits

1. Site Visit to Ultratech RMC Plant, Mysuru.


2. Site Visit to Cultural Heritage Building, Mysuru.
3. Hands on session on Painting and Plumbing by Asian Paints Academy, Mysuru
