Staircase Structure

Conceret works to staircase

i. Staircase
ii. Landing beam
iii. Landing slab

Taking off list:

1. Steps - m3
2. Waist – m3
3. Landing beam – m3
4. Landing slab – m3
Formula:
1. steps :
(½ x tread x riser x width of flight) x no. of steps

tread
riser

width of flight

2. waist

sloping flight of stair

thickness of waist

Formula: length of sloping flight of stair x width of flight x thickness of waist

3. landing beam
Formula: length of beam x width of beam x depth of beam

4. Landing slab
Formula : length of slab x width of slab x thickness of slab
Example:
Formwork to staircase

1. Formwork to sloping soffit of staircase- m2

2. Formwork to riser - m
3. Formwork to sides and soffit of landing beam -m2 (similar to other suspended beam)
4. Formwork to soffit of landing slab -m2 (similar to sloping soffit of staircase)
5. Formwork to string -m

length of flight

soffit

Formula:
1. Formwork to sloping soffit of staircase -m2
Area of formwork = sloping length of flight x width of staircase
2. Formwork to riser – m
Formula:
Length of riser x no. of riser
**the length of formwork refers to the width of the flight of stair i.e width of riser. should state height
of riser in description.

width of flight

3. Formwork to sides and soffit of landing beam -m2

Formula: length of beam x girth of two sides and one soffit
**there are staircase without landing beams.

4. Formwork to soffit of landing slab -m2

Formula area of formwork = width x length
sides of the landing slab = width x height
5. Formwork to string -m

Length of open string (blue in colour) = length of flight of stair x number of flight
Reinforcement

longitudinal

lateral

There are several types of bars reinforcement in staircase :

1. in staircase – lateral and longitudinal bars
2. in landing slab – similar to bars in suspended slab
3. in landing beam – main bar (top and bottom) and stirrups
