As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module.
You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist
the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
This module will help you learn important science ideas. You will understand these
ideas through various activities.
1. Use the module with care. Do Not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of
the module.
2. Don’t forget to answer What am I good at? Before moving on to the other
activities included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your
answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are
not alone.

Palete
Throat
The skin is the largest sense organ . It covers the whole body .
It protects the body from bacteria and injuries. It helps you feel the
pain , pressure and temperature. It helps you identify the texture
of the things that you touch.
Parts of the Skin
Epidermis – is the outer layer of the skin. It is the surface of the skin
that you see .
Dermis – is the layer of the skin under the epidermis . It is made up
of living cells . It is deeper and thicker than the epidermis .
Blood vessels - carry food and oxygen to the skin cells . They carry
waste away from the skin cells .
Sweat glands – small coiled twisted tubes that give off extra
amount of sweat .The sweat goes out to the pores of the skin . As
the sweat dries the body is cooler .
Oil glands - keep the skin soft . The oil keeps the skin from
cracking.
Our Nose
The nose smells he chemicals in food .
The is more sensitive than the tongue
The nose is not only for smelling .It is also for breathing
The nose cleans , warms and moisten the air that you take in.
Our Tongue
The tongue can tell four basic tastes .
The tongue is most sensitive to bitter foods . .
The tongue is also chemical detectors .
Taste buds are grouped around the tongue
The tongue is the organ for tasting
Our Skin
The skin covers the whole body .
The skin protects the body.
The skin stops the germs from entering the body
The skin stops water from soaking and leaking out into the body
The skin makes melanin that gives color to the skin
Care of the Nose
Clean your nose regularly with a clean cloth or towel.
Blow your nose gently when you have a cold .
Do not insert sharp or pointed objects in your nose.
Do not put objects too close to your nose when smelling
Care of the Tongue
Do not eat food that are too hot or too cold .
Brush your tongue gently when brushing your teeth .
Do not eat dirty food.
Care of the Skin
Take a bath always . Use soap for you skin and shampoo for
your hair.
Always wash your hands before handling food or touching
any part of your body
Never wear dirty clothes .
Never wear wet clothes, socks or shoes. Dry your feet before
wearing socks .
