1 Introduction

The Havelock City Commercial Development project site is located in Colombo 05, Sri Lanka,
bordering the main Havelock road. The site less than 10km away from the Colombo city center.

Project is to develop an office tower of 49 stories high and a shopping Mall of 5 stories high,
in addition, there are two basements for car parks.

The Office Tower provides premium office space and is designed to be a LEED certified
building and will be built to the highest standards. The Shopping center is developed as a
community level shopping mall serving the lifestyle needs of the catchment. The mega mall
comprises five floors of leading brands and retail stores, dining and entertainment experiences
amidst a state-of-the-art multiplex cinema.

2 Scope of Works

The Works to be executed under the Contract include but are not limited to the construction,
completion and maintenance of the proposed commercial development comprising of an office
tower 49 stories high with a gross floor area of approximately 73,000sq.m, and a shopping Mall
of 5 stories high, covering an area of approximately 26,000sq .m. In addition, there will be two
basements for car parks totaling approximately 33,000sq.m for the use of approximately 750
car parking slots.

3 LEED documentation submission

Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan has been submitted for review and consent. Erosion
and Sedimentation Control Plan submission details are given in following table.

4 Implementation

4.1 Pollution Prevention

During the reporting period following measures were taken at site to prevent pollution and
erosion

 Currently sum pits are using for as a sedimentation tank.


 Contractor has been working on a procedure for waste management to address the waste,
controlling on site and office. After finalizing the draft construction waste management
plan (CWMP) by CHEC, will issue to the Engineer for his review.
 For surface water drain out, it has been improved the drainage system to flow out the water
to sump pits on identifying locations during the excavation
 To prevent loss of soil during construction by storm water runoff and wind erosion,
excavated topsoil is stock piled before transportation for reuse, stock pile is covered with
mesh for further protection.
 Wheels of the vehicles going out of the site are washed in a washing bay before exiting
the site as measures to minimize the environment pollution issues in the adjacent roads.
 Soil transporting vehicles trailers are covered with polyethylene sheets while
transportation in order to control air pollution with dust and particulate matter.
 Water spraying on roads (internal and gate areas) and site area were carried out as dust
control measure.
 Periodical monitoring and site inspection have been carried out.

6 Monitoring during this month

According to the maintenance schedule of Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan,


following criterion were monitored at site and office during the reporting period.

 Toilet (de sludge)
