1. Look at the walls of the classroom. What are posted on the walls? What heroes, religious
figures, lessons, visual aids, announcements, do you see posted?

The classroom is so colorful. Their windows had colorful curtains. Their boards had curtains
also. The walls had lots of decorations. At the back portion of the classroom, they had big
bulletin board that has a lot of designs that has a nature theme. They also had achievements
corners where all the sections achievements are displayed. It also has heroes picture at the
upper back portion of the classroom.

2. Examine how the pieces of furniture are arranged. Where is the teacher’s table located?
How are the tables and chairs/ desks arranged?

The only piece of furniture I saw was the teacher’s table and the chairs. There is only one
teacher’s table and it is located in front of the students’ chairs near the boards in the middle.

3. What learning materials/ equipment are present?

6
The classroom has lots of charts, bulletin boards, and visual aids that well contribute to
students’ developments and learning.

4. Observe the students. How many are occupying one room?

Since it is pandemic, and we are just given a video as referral for this activity, unfortunately it
is not stated in the video how many students are occupying the room.

5. Is the room well-lit and well-ventilated?

Yes, the room is well-lit because it has four lights bulbs and the classroom has huge six
windows. In addition, the room is well-ventilated. In fact, it has four electric fans plus they
also have six huge windows, making the classroom well lit and well ventilated.

ANALYZE

8
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the students
going to school? What are your conclusions?

When the school campus and the rooms are clean, well-lit, well- ventilated, and
student’s friendly it will be appealing to the student, making the students motivated to go
to school.

How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development? How does this
relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?

Well, it made me realized how important the school campus and classrooms or the
school environment to the students’ development and learning.

REFLECT

9
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why? Why not?

Yes, because it is so students’ and teachers’ friendly. It has facilities that

promotes learning. In addition, it is also clean and green.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?

I think the kind of school campus that is conducive to learning is like the
school campus that the video shown. It is clean, green and it has facilities that
helps in promoting students learning and development.

3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?

10
The kind of classroom that is conducive to learning is like the classroom that was
shown in the video, where there are lots of leaning materials that was used in decorating
the room but making sure it is still spacious, clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated.

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?

In the future, I can accomplish that by being creative and spending my own
money.

5. Write your additional learnings and insights here:

Well, a campus that is clean, green, and has facilities in it, can greatly affects
students’ performance. In the cost of having conducive learning environment for the
students’ learning, everybody should put much efforts and creativity in making the school
and rooms persuasive to students’ development and learning.

3. What= are the displays about? What key messages do they convey? What images and colors do you
see? How
= are the pieces of information and images arranged?
The displays are almost all about the school and students’ achievements and some conveys messages
about caring for the students’ mental, emotional and spiritual health. It also contains announcements.
The pictures and color combinations are fine. The pieces of information and images are arranged
properly and it is not messy.

4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?

The materials that were used in making the displays are colored papers and printed images and letters.
Yes, borders are used.

5. Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the like)

Since it is pandemic, and we are just given a video as referral for this activity. The video did not give
more emphasis on the words thus I cannot pin point if there are misspelled words and grammar
inconsistencies.
12
6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?

For me even if I’ve just given a video to observe to answer this question, I can tell that the messages are
clear and easy to understand because of the theme that correlates to the massages that the bulletins
are conveying.

7. Think about what got your attention. Why did it get your attention?

I think the color combination got first my attention because I am a visual learner and I usually notice first
the colors rather than the contents.

8. Take a photos of the display boards (if allowed).

Taking pictures can’t be done because it is just in the video, but screenshot will be my alternative.

Analyze

What do you think was the purpose of the board display?

The purpose of the board display is to share or express your ideas to

others.

Did the board display design reflect the likes/ interests of its target audience? Why? Why not?

The board display design reflected the likes or interest of the target
audience it is because the creator already gathered information and interest of its
audiences.

Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why / Why not?

The language used are clear and simple for the target audience to
understand, it is because the creator ensured that the words she uses is easy to
understand.

Was the Board display effective? Why? Why not?

The board display is effective it is because the sayings are related to the
students daily leaving.

What suggestions can you make?

The suggestions I can make is that the board display must be more eye
catching not only for those who loves mathematics but also to those who want to
understand mathematics.

18
Based on your suggestions, propose an enhanced version of the display board. Use the form
below.

Reflect

1. Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective board
displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.

 Creative – in order to catch the imaginative minds of the audiences.

 Resourceful- in order to gather lots of information and materials.
 Inspiring- in order for the students to be motivated to learn and have the energy to keep
going.
 Clear- in order to formulate direct to the point information.
 Observant- to be able to know what is the students need and their trends to come up with
a catchy and timely board display.

2. which of the skills you named in #1 do you already have? Recall your past experience in
making board displays. How do you practice these skills?

19
The number one skill that I already have is the creativity. I can practice
this skill by doing what I want which is drawing.
3. Which skill do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take on how you can
improve on or acquire these skills.

The skill that I need to develop is being passionate. The concrete steps that
I will take on to acquire these skills is first is to read more books about being a
teacher. Second, ask advices to the other teachers who are really passionate in
teaching.

ANALYZE

1. What principles of learning were most applied? least applied?

Most applied is the “Learning is a cooperative and a collaborative process. Learning is

enhanced in an atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration” because it is really
common and it is subconsciously done by the students and teachers in every class
discussion.

Least applied is the “Learning is the discovery of personal meaning and relevance of ideas”
because it is rarely take place in the discussion.
Give instances where this/these principle/s could have been applied?

Since, I am still a student, I cannot give more instances rather than what is shown in the
video because for me, what is shown in the video is all right and I think all of the principles had
been applied properly and serves its purpose throughout the discussion.

REFLECT
From among the principles of learning, which one do you think is the most important?

I think the most important among the four principles of learning is the last principle
which is the “Learning is a cooperative and a collaborative process. Learning is enhanced in an
atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration”. If this principle of learning is applied effectively
the three principles well also takes place because collaboration makes everyone engaged and
when they are engaged the students will actively participate (Learning is an active process)
making them interested (Learning is the discovery of personal meaning and relevance of ideas)
and when they are interested they will achieve what is in the objective.

ANALYZE

1. What are possible consequences of teaching purely subject matter for mastery and for the test?

The possible consequences of teaching purely subject matter for mastery and for the test
are the students may not be able to relate and internalized the lesson. The students’ will likely to
forget what they were thought. Thus they will not have a meaningful learning.

2. If you were to reteach the classes you observed, would you be teacher-centered or student-
centered? Why?

If I were to reteach the classes I observed, I would be a student-centered because I want

the students to get involved in the learning process. I want them to be actively engaging in the
activities and attentively responds to my questions. I want them to take hold to their own
learning. To learn how to recognize their individual learning style and get the opportunity to
work with the other students.

REFLECT

Reflect on Principles of teaching worth applying

The principles must be applied in order to have a good and achievable outcome. Teachers
must be knowledgeable on how to plan the upcoming discussions or what teaching method to be
used. It should be in line with the students’ needs. Following those principles will give a higher
possibility teaching effectively.

his/her= lesson objectives/ ILOs? Explain your answer.
=
= As shown in the reference video, the teacher made a game (Translate Me). It is a
= group activity where one group is given one cardboard and when the music plays, the

cardboard is passed throughout the group members until the music stops, and then he
holds the cardboard should translate the verbal expressions into mathematical
expressions. The teacher also had the students a group reporting activity. Yes, these
TLAs help her attain her lesson objectives because her TLAs has questions that are
related to her lesson. Thus making her TLAs aligned to her objectives.

3. What assessment task/s did teacher employ? Is/Are these aligned to the lesson objectives/
ILOs?

29
The teacher employed a quiz and I think it is aligned to her lesson objectives but I
am not sure because the teacher in the video said that their quiz will be on the next day
and unfortunately, the quiz was not flashed in the video so I can’t really be so sure.

ANALYZE
1. What are your thoughts about Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)?

The emphasis on outcomes establishes a clear understanding of what must be

completed at the end of the course. Teachers will know what they need to teach during
the course since students will understand what is expected of them. When it comes to
team teaching and years of schooling, clarity is crucial.

REFLECT
Reflect on the use of OBTL.

The emphasis in OBTL is not on what the instructor wishes to teach, but rather on
what the desired effect of that instruction is for the learner. Simply described, OBTL is a
student-centered method to teaching and learning.

ANALYZE

1. Neil Postman once said: "Children go to school as question marks and leave school as
periods!" Does this have something to do with the type of questions that teachers ask and the
questioning and reacting techniques that they employ?

Yes, this have something to do with the type of questions that teachers ask and the
questioning and reacting techniques that they employ. Students goes to school ignorant and those
types of questions that the teachers inquire to the students help stimulates learning.

REFLECT

Reflect on

The importance of using various reacting techniques

The importance of using various reacting techniques is it improves the quality of

responses given and decreases the amount of guessing and incorrect conclusions. It also
encourages learners who are slow to respond and encouraged to make their own inquiries.
In addition, it allows adequate time for students to consider their answers at the same
time allowing the teachers to assess the responses presented.

Use the Technology Integration Form to analyze the class you observed. Refer to the Technology
Integration Matrix on p. 123, In which level of technology integration do you think the teacher
you observed operated? Why?

The level of technology integration I think the teacher I’ve observed operated the
entry level because the teachers uses the technology to deliver curriculum content to the
students as what the entry level is saying in Technology Integration Matrix.

Based on the Technology Integration Matrix, what is the characteristic of the learning
environment in the class that you observed? Point your observations that justify your answer.

Based on the Technology Integration Matrix, the characteristic of the learning

environment in the class that I’ve observed was collaborative because students use
technology to collaborate with others rather than simply receive information, like what
they did during every group activity they had.

Over-all, were the learning resources used effectively? Why? Why not? Give your suggestions.

Over-all the learning resources were used effectively because as I observed the
students’ are learning and they are actively enjoying the session. I suggest that every
teacher should incorporate or use technology as possible in their lectures.

lesson to the same group of students, I would do the same as what the teacher did. The
only thing that I would change is if there will be an available projector I will use

ANALYZE

1. Why should a teacher find out if students understand the lesson while teaching is in
progress? It is not better to do a once-and-for- all assessment at the completion of the
entire lesson?

The teacher should find out if students understand the lesson while teaching is in
progress in order to address the problems directly. It is not a good idea to do a once-and-
for- all assessment at the completion of the entire lesson

47
2. Why is not enough for a teacher to ask "Did you understand, class?" when he/she intends
to

3. Should teacher record results of formative assessment for grading purposes? Why or why
not?

The teacher should record results of formative assessment for grading

purposes because it will serve it as her referral if the students’ are doing well and
understood the lesson.

4. Based on your observations, what formative assessment practice worked?

I think peer tutoring is the formative assessment practice worked.

5. For formative assessment, why is peer tutoring in class sometimes seen to be more
effective than teacher himself/herself doing the re-teaching or tutoring?

Peer tutoring in class sometimes seen to be more effective than teacher

himself/herself doing the re-teaching or tutoring because students are capable of
knowing how the other student feels about the lesson.

6. Could an unreasonable number of failures at the end of the term/grading period be

attributed to the non-application of formative assessment? Why or why not?

The unreasonable number of failures at the end of the term/grading period

can be attributed to the non-application of formative assessment because
formative assessments are the teachers’ guide or determinants if the students full
understand the lesson or not. And by that the teacher can pin point whether she
should reteach her lesson or change her approach.
