Practice Problem
Q-02: Analyze and design a rectangular single cell reinforced concrete tank.
The height of the tank is 15ft, the length is 35ft and the width is 25ft.
Assume the thicknesses of the supporting walls, top slab and bottom slab are
15”, 12” and 18” respectively. The density of the soil fill is 110pcf and the
density of water is 62.5pcf. The bearing capacity of the soil is 2tsf in addition
to that the top slab is subjected to a live load of 40psf. Design and detail the
tank and also check the uplifting and bearing pressure underneath the
bottom slab of the tank?
