Data Product Leader

The Data Office is the engine driving EY’s transformation. It reframes how we find, manage, use and
scale data to realize its full power and fuel new intelligent technologies. Fundamental to this
transformation is the evolution and adoption of a data product approach that will unlock the value of data
from across EY’s business.

As EY Data Product Lead; you will be instrumental in driving a data product mindset across EY; able to
build a next generation data product practice that will support EY’s global business. You will be a
commercially focused, proven, delivery orientated data professional that is passionate for the
transformative role of data.

Your key responsibilities

As EY Data Product Lead you will you work with the global Next Gen Services Lead and under their
guidance be responsible for leading the global activation of data products across EY.

As a thought leader in data products you will be highly driven, with exceptional stakeholder management,
communications and change skills; able to flourish in a complex and demanding environment, passionate
for driving data products and the opportunities a data-product transformation will bring to EY and its
clients.

The initial priorities will be to:


• You will engage the EY business; to identify the key data domains of relevance, aligned to
EY business strategies
• You will build a data product practice; leveraging the existing capability, to meet an
exponential grow across the business.
• You will build the EY Data Product Playbook & Marketplace; empowering the EY global
business to be data driven
• You will oversee and govern the growing library of data products – ensuring all data
products are clearly described, readily consumable and trusted/quality assured.

This will require close collaboration with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders – working closely with
business teams across all our services, supporting key clients that have been selected to innovate with
EY on our Data Strategy and specialist data office SMR’s including data modelling, data governance,
legal and risk.

As EY Data Product Lead you will be responsible for a broad range of decisions including:
• Core Data Products: responsible to define the vision, scope, plan and ultimate execution
and adoption of a portfolio of data products; building on the current ‘organization
intelligence’ data product capability (with approx. 30FTE) this portfolio could grow
significantly depending on the creation of demonstrable value from further investment in
core data products.
• Data Product Playbook: responsible for definition and execution of a Data Product Playbook
that will get used by EY’s network of business professionals. You will be responsible for the
decision on the design, approach and best practices for democratized creation of data
products.
• Data Product Library (Marketplace): as the business owner for the Data Product Library, you
will be responsible for all business decisions related to the definition, design, build and
operation of the data product library.

Skills and attributes for success


To qualify for the role you must have

• Commercial/Product Management – proven experience with managing a portfolio of


products/services ensuring a clear commercial focus on value to the business
• Very strong stakeholder/interpersonal skills - the level of stakeholders would mainly be
Partner/Director. Therefore, personal credibility, sound business judgment, effective inter-
relationship skills and ability to engage with people will determine the overall effectiveness
of the candidate
• Demonstrated competence with Data & Analytics (data mgmt., data modelling, data
analytics)
• Ability to handle ambiguity – EY is a demanding/complex business
• Project, program & people management - able to inspire
• Collaborative & strong team player
• University Degree or Equivalent
• 15yrs + experience with Data & Analytics

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Modern Data Platform experience (graph, big data, data mesh, data fabric, ontologies)
• Strong knowledge of data market trends, data related methodologies, technologies, data
sources and vendors
• Cross Sector business experience – worked in a variety of business domains (Banking,
Retail, Telco, Government, Heath etc)
• Business management experience (e.g. Management Accounting, Economics)
• Experience with Agile/Scaled Agile delivery in large enterprises
• Data monetization – experience with the monetization of data / data products
• A good knowledge of EY organization is nice to have, but not strictly required.
• Prior consulting experience; preferably in a top tier consulting firm
• Certified Accountant (preferred)
• MBA (preferred)

What we look for

• As a Director and Leader within the firm, the candidate will require minimal supervision.
• As a Data Product Leader the candidate will be responsible for establishment and
management of the data product practice within the data office, including the recruitment,
training, and development of a well-organized team.
• Currently about 30 FTE, but with potential to grow significantly as the transformation to a
data product culture in EY matures.
• Given the scope and the international nature of the role it is expected a high degree of
flexibility – including travelling internationally, working across time-zones, and dealing with
different skills and cultures. The candidate will be able to work remotely when physical
presence is not strictly required and will have flexibility on working slots.
