For this experiment we had a very important goal, to understand the difference
between speed and velocity. We performed a series of experiments which
consisted on having a person run and measuring the time. Our hypothesis was that
the speed of the runner will remain constant throughout all the test runs, and that
velocity and speed can be different in the same test run. To understand this
experiment we must first understand our core concepts, which are, first
displacement: amount of distance between the starting point and the finish point.
Second, distance: how much has been traveled in the whole path, third speed:
distance traveled in an amount of time and finally velocity: displacement traveled
in an amount of time. For this experiment we used a rather simple method, we
measured a certain distance which would have different displacement, then we
had someone run our route and timed them, this way we were able to determine
their speed and velocity.
