2. As the point at the free end of the minute hand is describing a semi-circle
Distance =half of the perimeter=πr= 7 π c.m. Displacement = diameter =2 x 7cm =
14c.m.
3. Scalar quantities are physical quantities that have only magnitude and no
direction. Examples of scalar quantities are speed and temperature123.Vector
quantities are physical quantities that have both magnitude and direction. Examples
of vector quantities are force and velocity12.Other examples of scalar and vector
quantities are:
Scalar: Mass, density, energy, distance3
Vector: Acceleration, displacement, angular velocity2
4. The magnitude of average velocity of an object is equal to its average speed
when the object's motion occurs along a straight line and in the same direction12.
This happens when an object moves along a straight line in the same direction
(without turning back)2. The magnitude of average speed and average velocity are
equal when the total distance covered is equal to the displacement3. If velocity is
constant, then displacement and distance will be equal and the magnitude of average
velocity is equal to average speed4.
5. a) uniformly accelerated- initial velocity + final velocity / 2

b) non-uniformly accelerated- change in velocity/time taken

6. Total distance travelled by moving body in a unit time interval is called Speed.
while total displacement in unit time interval by a moving body is called velocity.
speed is a scaler quantity and velocity is a vector quantity.
7. Accelerated Motion
According to 2 sources
▶ The type of motion possessed by an athlete running on a circular track is
'Accelerated Motion'. ▶As when a body is moving along a circular path or track it,
we know it constantly changes its direction, which in turn, changes the velocity as
it is a vector quantity and when velocity changes there is acceleration.
Name the type of motion po…

When an athlete runs in a circular track his direction changes at every point. This
direction change is possibly due to the force acting on him. Thus the motion of the
athlete in the circular track is accelerated motion.
8. [a] When an object is travelling in a straight line with an increase in velocity
at equal intervals of time, then the object is said to be in uniform acceleration.
SI unit of acceleration is m/s2.[b]. Zero. Hence, the acceleration of a body moving
with uniform velocity will always be zero.
9. The speedometer and odometer are instruments that indicate the speed and
distance of a vehicle. The speedometer shows the speed in miles per hour or
kilometers per hour, and helps drivers maintain safe speeds and monitor fuel
efficiency. The odometer shows the total mileage of the vehicle, and helps drivers
keep track of how far they have driven and detect any mechanical issues.

NUMIRICALS:
1. initial velocity (u) = 18m/s final velocity (v) = 0m/s time (t) = 5s v = u+at 0
= 18 + 5a 5a = -18 a = -18/5 m/s∧2 (acceleration will be negative because due to
the applying of brakes it becomes retardation)
2. distance covered in 5 sec=50m acceleration=0 Explanation: Distance travelled =
Area of rectangle OABC =OA×OC =10×5=50m a=v-ul/t

4. in WhatsApp.
5. The speed & velocity of the boy is approximately 40π m/s (125.66 m/s)
Explanation: To calculate the boy's speed and velocity, we need to use the given
information about the distance covered and the time taken. Given: Radius of the
circular path = 400m Distance covered = 1/4th of the circular path = 1/4 * 2π *
400m.
6. uniform acceleration a = 4 m/s² Initial velocity u= 0 m/s Time t = 10 sec.
Velocity v after 10 sec= u + a t = 0 m/s + 4 m/s² × 10 s =40 m/s.

8. The truck starts from rest, ∴ Initial velocity = u = 0 m/s Distance travelled =
s = 400 m Time taken = t = 20 s Since we have u, s and t, we can find acceleration
by using 2nd equation of motion. s = ut + 1/2 at2 400 = 0 × 20 + 1/2 × a × (20)2
400 = 0 + 1/2 × a × 400 200 a = 400 a = 400/200 a = 2 m/s2 We know that, Force =
mass × acceleration Given, Mass = 7 metric tonnes = 7 × 1000 kg = 7000 kg
Acceleration = 2m/s2 Now, ∴ Force = Mass × Acceleration = 7000 × 2 = 14000 N
