Sports Day 2023

Announcement

AOA Ladies and Gentlemen, and a very special welcome to all the amazing mothers joining
us today for this fantastic celebration of sports and teamwork!

It’s with immense pleasure that we welcome you to Shahwilayat Public School Campus 1
Annual Sports Day 2023.

How lovely is this day? And so does the ambience and aura surrounding it? Soon the colors
of this merriment will unfold and will transport us to another world.

The heart beats have gone up – and everyone is eager to sink into the depth of harmonious
synergy of vigor and skills.

I would request our respected audience to kindly take their seats.

We begin our programme with Allah’s blessing.

Muhammad Emad of Grade III-D will recite Surah Feel and Syeda Wafia Zehra of Grade III-
C will recite the translation.

JazakaAllah.

Michael Jordan once said: “The world of sports is a lot like business. There's training,
teamwork, competition, wins and losses, passion and hard work.”
The utility of sports cannot be overemphasized. However, it assumes crucial importance
when the upkeep of the growing bodies and minds of our youth comes into consideration.
Beyond the immediate outcomes of competitiveness and physical fitness, there is a broader
purpose to sports. Sports not only improve children’s health, but the inherent sociability of
sports, the fact that it is fun team activity rather than a solitary pursuit, produces mutual
interaction and deep satisfaction. Children become socially disciplined, cooperative,
confident and more conscious of their responsibilities.
This very aspect of sports is enshrined in Shahwilayat Public School’s mission statement:
“Exploring the physical potential of our young students through sports.”

InshAllah this day will be a memorable one, a day full of fun and excitement.

Karate Display:
Coming up next is the harmonious synergy of vigor and skill. Yes, we are talking about The
Karate display. Hold your breath and watch their stellar performance.

Karate is a system of unarmed self –defense, using blows and kicks. Originally Japanese, it’s
now a popular combative sport.

8
Just like exercise strengthens your body, challenges strengthen your mind. Martial arts can
help by teaching you how to bounce back from setbacks and the importance of not letting
life get you down, no matter how hard things get.
Our karate-training program provides students with the basic of self defense, thus inculcating
in them the essentials of self discipline and living life in peace, harmony and with
responsibility.
Students have assembled for the karate demonstration.
First they will bow which is the customary greeting protocol.

Basic Exercises: Basic exercises play a vital role in most exercise routines and prepares our
bodies for physical activity. Besides, it improves our blood circulation and tones the
muscles.

Now they will present their first routine, 1 count 1 punch: Children are taught how and
where to punch the enemy.

One count two punches: Now we will witness surprise attack through this move. They’ll
count once but punch twice. We may regard this as a tricky punch because it may confuse
the enemy. Tricky isn’t it?

Side and front Punches: This tactic is for striking 2 targets at a time. Now the students have
assumed their positions and are ready. Observe how well they strike two targets at one time.

Four count Shadow strike: The aim of this technique is to target the opponent’s head and
neck. This is a quick frontal offensive movement striking either side of the head or neck.
Each count represents a specific action in the sequence.

Breathing exercise: This exercise is to calm the muscles and soothe the nerves. They do this
by taking deep breaths and then exhaling slowly. Take note of the discipline and mindfulness
involved.

Stretching exercise: Left and right weight: Stretching is an essential component of karate
training to improve flexibility, prevent injuries, and enhance overall performance. These
exercises will help them to revitalize their energy and prepare them for the next challenge.

Full Stretch: In karate, achieving full stretch involves working on overall flexibility,
targeting various muscle groups, and ensuring that your body is well-prepared for dynamic
movements. This really showcases the foundation of strength and agility.

Front kick: The Front Kick is the most powerful kick in Karate. It is easy to perform, fast,
effective and hard to block. There are slight variations in how to perform a front kick, from a
quick snap kick to a very powerful thrusting front kick.
9
Side kick: The side kick is a fundamental and powerful technique in karate. It involves
delivering a kick sideways with the edge of the foot.

Three count yell: In karate, a three-count yell, is a vocal expression of energy, focus, and
spirit. It is an important aspect of karate training and is often used to enhance the power and
intensity of certain techniques. This is to frighten the opponent and divert his concentration.
Now our young karate team will display some essentials of self-defense, which rely on skill
and technique.

Judo: Self defense

While Karate is aggressive, Judo is a soft martial art that includes body maneuvers against
the opponent. Judo focuses on grappling, pinning, and throwing the opponent to tire him or
her.

10
Last tile breaking:
Breaking is a martial arts technique that is used in competition, demonstration and testing.

objects using the skills honed in their art form. The striking surface is usually a hand or a
