A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

1. Prayer

Class please all stand for the prayer. (all students are standing for the prayer)

Our Father, we praise you for today’s glory. Bless us this day
and forgive us our sins. Thank you for the blessings that you
have given to all of us. Guide us towards this class and help us
to learn, create, and share knowledge all together. In Jesus name
we pray. Amen

Okay class, please sit down.

2. Greetings

Good morning, class! Good morning ma’am!

How are you this morning? We are all fine ma’am!

That’s so nice to hear from all of you.

3. Attendance

And for the attendance, who is absent from the boys? No one is absent ma’am.

How about from the girls? No one is absent ma’am.

Okay that’s good to hear.

4. Agreement
Before we proceed to our next lesson, let us have first an
agreement. Is that fine with you class? Yes ma’am!

So, I want you to keep all things that are not related to our
discussion. Sit properly and do not talk with your seatmates.

And here’s our classroom rules please read everyone.

CLASSROOM RULES:
G-ive your full attention to our lesson.
A-ctively participate and cooperate in every activity.
D-on’t make unnecessary noise when someone is
discussing.
O-bserve cleanliness at all times.
R-aise your right hand if you want to answer.

So, do we have an agreement now? Yes ma’am!

Okay, very well everyone!

ELICIT

Before we proceed to our new lesson for today, what was our
previous discussion all about? We discussed about Nervous System ma’am.

Okay very good!

So, our the previous discussion was all about nervous system.
Who can tell what is the basic unit of the nervous system? The basic unit of the nervous system is the nerve cell.

Okay very good!

What are the two main division of the Nervous System? The Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous
System.
Very good!
So, how will you differentiate the two? The Central Nervous System is the main processing
outer for the entire nervous system to the organs.

Very good! So, our bodies coordinated because we have a

Central Nervous System. It is consists of the brain and spinal
cord. What do you think is the function of the brain? The brain functions as organizer and distributor of the
information for the body.
Very good!

The Peripheral Nervous System has two main division. What The Somatic System and the Autonomic System. The
are those? How will you differentiate the two? Somatic System is associated with the voluntary control
of the body movements while the Autonomic System is
associated with the involuntary control of body
movements.

Very good!

The Somatic System has two main parts; the spinal nerves and The spinal nerves carry motor and sensory signals
cranial nerves. How will you differentiate the two? between the spinal cord of the body while the cranial
nerves carry information into and out of the body.

Excellent!

The other division which is the Autonomic System has The Sympathetic division and the Parasympathetic
subdivisions. What are those? division.

Very good! So, do you have any questions on our previous None ma’am.
discussion?

Okay very good! So, I hope everybody learned a lot from the
previous discussion.

ENGAGE

1. MOTIVATION

Moving on class, we will be having a group activity and this

activity 1 is entitled “Chinese Whisper”. Please read the
directions everyone.

ACTIVITY 1: CHINESE WHISPER

Directions: Students will be divided into two groups. Each

group will choose two representatives. The representatives will
go in front and read the secret message. Once the teacher says
go it is the time for the representatives to go to the first student
and whisper the secret message he/she read. The first student
will whisper the secret message to the second students’ ear. The
second student will turn to the person next to him/her and
whisper the message to them. Continues whispering the
message until it reach the last student. The last student will say
the message they heard aloud to the whole class. The first group
to say the correct message will be the winner.

SECRET MESSAGE: Hormones are part of the endocrine

system.

Based on the game that we played do you have any idea on what I think ma'am our topic for today is all about Endocrine
will be our topic for today? System.

Okay very good!

2. PRESENTATION

So, our lesson for today is all about Endocrine System.

And here’s our objectives, please read everyone.

At the end of the discussion, I am expecting that you will be

able to identify the major endocrine glands in the human Students read the objectives.
body and their functions, recognize the importance of the
endocrine system in regulating bodily functions, and draw a
diagram showing the location of the major glands in the
endocrine system.

Thank you everyone.

EXPLORE

At this very moment, we will be having another group activity.

This activity 2 is entitled "Who's in Control?" Okay, so I will
divide the class into 3 groups.

Please count off one to four.

Does everyone within their respective groups?

Okay! let us perform this activity.

ACTIVITY 2: WHO'S IN CONTROL?

Directions: Study each picture that depicts the involvement of

a particular gland in the endocrine system. Write down the
name of the endocrine gland and explain its effect, according to
its function. Each group will also be given additional reading
materials and URL of sites containing additional information.

Example
Thyroid Gland it regulates the
metabolism of the body.

Athlete burn up calories

during exercise

Expected answers:
1.
Pancreas- secretes insulin that regulates blood sugar
levels.
1. Ovaries- secrete more progesterone and estrogen to
A pregnant women promote pregnancy.
Pituitary Gland- produces growth hormones.
Thymus Gland- secretes thymosin to stimulate
2. production of T-cells against infection.
Adrenal Gland- produces adrenaline to activate short-
term stress response.

Pituitary Gland- produces growth hormones.

term stress response.

Guide Questions:

Q1. Why is injecting insulin an essential part of daily regime for

most people with diabetes?

Q2. How important is the thymus gland in keeping your body

free from diseases?

Q3. If a person's blood sugar level becomes unstable, what

glands might be involved in th problem?

Q4. How will you explain the sudden boost of energy,

increased strength and extraordinary ability to lift very
heavy objects especially during emergency situations?

Q5. Breastfeeding releases oxytocin and prolactin, hormones

that relax the mother and make her feel more nurturing
toward her baby. On the other hand, how does the baby
benefit from the production of these hormones in the
mother's body?

You will have 5 minutes to finish the activity.

Take note class that you will only be given a maximum of 3
minutes for the presentation. Surprise us with how you present
your works. An effort will always count. You will be graded
according to the following rubrics:

Congratulations, everyone!
The endocrine system is composed of glands that secrete

That’s right! Here is the definition of the endocrine system, It is essential in regulating growth and

it is the reason why we are growing tall and big. It

I understand that endocrine system is just like nervous

what to do.

Based on the definition, the difference is when

Correct, but where did they differ? the brain receives signals from the sensory nerves,
it automatically sends its response through motor
neurons and it only takes few seconds or milliseconds
but endocrine system takes lot longer because its effects
can take for few hours or a week.
Because the hormones in endocrine system are carried in

So now it’s time for another group activity. Are you all excited? Yes ma'am.

And to start with, please read first the directions of the activity.

ACTIVITY 3: FIT N' RIGHT

Instructions: With the same group, you will be given a manila

paper and draw a diagram showing the location of the major
glands in the endocrine system and provide their functions as
well.
