A. Preliminary Activities

a. Opening Prayer

Good morning class! Good afternoon Mam.

Go back to your seats and let us pray, let us (the student will stand and start to pray)
bow our heads and feel the presence of the
Lord.

For todays prayer, allow me to call John to .

lead the prayer
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit, Amen.
Dear Father in Heaven, we are here
before Thee. Help us to study well. Help us to
be obedient and honest/ Help us to love one
another. Bless our teacher, bless our school,
bless our country, and bring us all to heaven.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit , Amen
b. Checking of Attendance

Okay class, Let’s check the attendance please

say present as I call your name.

c. Review/ Recall

Before we begin, let’s have a recap. Do you (Students will raise their hand.)
still recall wat we discussed last meeting?

Yes Lanz? The Reproductive System

Very good. The reproductive system and its

function. What is the main function of
reproductive system?
To produce offspring.
Yes Lorenzo?
That’s right, the main function of the
reproductive system is to continue to produce
offspring.

That’s right. We have male and female

reproductive system that aids to continue the
existence of human life. The fusion of
gametes which we called sperm and egg cell
give rise to a new individual by the process of
fertilization.
Oogenesis
What do you call the process of producing an
egg cell?
You want to try Reeanne?
Spermatogenesis
How about for the male ?
Yes Joy?

Very good class, I’m glad you remember our

previous lesson. Now, I ask you about
reproduction because it is related to the topic
that we are going to discuss.
But before that, let’s play a game.

B. MOTIVATION

Now, we’re going to play a game. We can call

it the 6th sense. Are you familiar with the 6th
sense?

1.Put a bag/box with unidentified objects and

let the student identify it.

2.Place a small amount of various substance

with distinctive smells.

3.Blindfold a student. Have a student smell

one flavor of the Jello while tasting another
flavor. Let the student guess which flavor is
being tasted.

4.Let 2 volunteer student stand on the other

side of the room. Let the other student throw a
ball on the other student.

5. Write a mathematical equation on the

board. Call a student to solve the equation. Yes, we are.
6. Show 2 different pictures and let the Yes, we are.
student tell what they observe in the picture.

Did you enjoy the game class? Yes, we are.

Did you enjoy guessing the objects in the I got scared and tried to avoid the ball.
box?

Did you enjoy tasting the Jellos? It has something to do with our senses.
How about you, what did you feel when your
classmate throw the ball on you? Because we use our senses to identify the
objects, to taste, and to smell.
Now, can you tell me, what did you notice
with the game?

How did you say so?

Our brain Mam.

Very good. We use our senses to recognize, to

identify, to observe, to think and to feel.
But do you ever wonder what tells, control or
decide for our senses?

That’s right. It’s our brain. The brain serves

as the command center of our body, from the
way we move to how we decide.

Today let us learn about the parts of our brain

and how it functions and affect our body.

C. DISCUSSION

The previous lesson thought us how humans

were formed through the process of
reproduction, as humans, we have the ability
to know ourselves, this feature distinguishes Yes, Mam.
and sets us apart from the rest of creation, and
this ability is known as consciousness and
intelligence. In this lesson, let’s find out how
the nervous system works for us. It hurts Mam.
I’ll be surprised.
Are you ready to learn?

Suppose someone pinches you in your arm

out of nowhere. How did you react when
suddenly someone pinched you?
Yes, of course, your initial reaction is you’ll
be surprised and then you will feel the pinch
that was done to you. Your nervous system is
responsible for your quick reaction because
your body parts are connected to it. You can
react and respond to different situations
because it transmits signals from one part of
the body to another. The nervous system has
three basic functions: sensory, integrative, and
motor.
Now let’s take a closer look and explore the
basic parts of the nervous system.

Our nervous system is divided into two. The

central nervous system (CNS) and the
peripheral nervous system(PNS).

The CNS serves as the processing area of the

nervous system. It is composed of the brain
and the spinal cord.

Brain

Spinal cord

The brain processes and interprets the signals

transmitted to it, while the spinal cord serves
as the connection from the brain to the rest of
the body.
The brain is the most important part of the
nervous system, it controls most of the
reactions given by the body, and processes the
signals it receives from the different parts of
the body. The brain is divided into two
hemispheres.

Left Right

The left and right hemispheres; The left

hemisphere controls different skills such as
speaking, writing, numerical, and scientific
skills, as well as sign language and reasoning.

The right hemisphere controls the righty side

of the body, related to spatial intelligence,
pattern and face recognition, as well as
musical ability.

Our brain also has several lobes.

• Frontal lobes -controls some voluntary

motor functions, different moods, and sense
of smell.
• Parietal lobe -controls most of the
senses such as touch and taste, it is also
responsible for controlling pain body
temperature and balance.
• Occipital lobe – controls the sense of
sight
Kindly read the functions of the lobes. • Temporal lobe – controls the sense of
smell and hearing, and it has a role in
memory.

None Mam.

Central nervous system and the Peripheral

Nervous system

The brain and the spinal cord

Any question about the hemisphere and lobes
of the brain?

What are the two divisions of our nervous

system?

Very good.

What is the component of central nervous

system?

Moving on, aside from hemispheres and

lobes. Our brain has different major parts. It
has cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem.
1.Cerebrum is the largest part of the brain, it
controls your ability to right, read and speak,
it also relates in mathematical and musical
skills and deals with your memory.

2. Cerebellum helps in the smooth

coordination of skeletal muscle contractions
also regulates body posture and balance.

3. Brain stem connects the brain and the

spinal cord. It consists of three regions.

 The medulla oblongata is associated

with heartbeat, breathing, sensations,
and reflex control when a person is
swallowing, vomiting, coughing,
hiccupping, and sneezing. It has 4 lobes, the frontal, parietal, occipital,
 Midbrain has several functions that and the temporal.
include the coordination of muscular
movements and reflexes that direct the The cerebrum, cerebellum and the brainstem.
movement of the eyes, head and neck.
It is also responsible for your startle Medulla oblongata, Midbrain, and the pons
reflex, which happens whenever you
are surprised due to loud and noisy
sounds.
 Pons connects the parts of the brain, it
also helps control breathing. None
So how many lobes does our brain have?

How about the major parts of the brain?

What are the three regions of brain stem?

Very good.

These are the parts and components that make

up the central nervous system.
Is there any question?

We are done with the parts of the central

nervous system. Now let’s discuss about the
peripheral nervous system.

Just like the central nervous system, the PNS

is also divided into two. These are the somatic
and autonomic nervous systems. The SNS
(somatic nervous system) includes the motor
nerves that connect to the skeletal muscles
that function voluntarily. It contains spinal
nerves that connect the central nervous
system to other parts such as sensory receptor,
the muscles and the body glands as well as the
cranial nerves, which is responsible for many
functions such as smell sight chewing taste
hearing and even the movement of the tongue.

Let’s move on to the second part of peripheral

nervous system.
The autonomic nervous system regulates the
smooth and cardiac muscles as well as the
glands. It works involuntarily. The ANS
contains the sympathetic and parasympathetic
nervous systems.
The sympathetic nervous system is activated
during physical and emotional stress, it
stimulates every time we feel fear, anger, and
embarrassment. The parasympathetic
functions whenever our body is at rest and
recovery, during these periods our body
conserve and restores energy.

Ok class, do you have any question?

Is everything clear?

D. APPLICATION

10 mins group activity.

The class will be divided in 4 groups.

Each group will task to solve the crossword
E. GENERALIZATION

Let’s have a recap, the nervous system is the

major controlling, regulatory, and
communicating system in the body. It is the
center of all mental activity including thought,
learning, and memory. Like other systems in
the body, the nervous system is composed of
organs like brain, and spinal cord which
consists of nerves, blood, and connective
tissues, together, these carry out the complex
activities of the nervous system. The nervous
systems has three general functions the
sensory, integrative, and motor. It is split into
two parts the

Central nervous system and peripheral

nervous system. The central nervous systems
is the control center of our body and it has
two major structures which is the brain and
the spinal cord. The brain is divided into two
the left and right hemisphere, and consists of
lobes such as frontal, parietal, temporal and
occipital lobes. Also, the brain has major parts
which is the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain
stem. The brainstem in addition is compose of
medulla oblongata, midbrain, and the pons.

If the CNS is the control system of our body

the PNS regulates the function of the CNS
which lies outside the major components of
the brain and spinal cord. It is divided into
two components, the somatic and autonomic
nervous system.
The SNS contains of nerves, such as motor
nerves that connects to the skeletal muscles
that function voluntarily, spinal nerves which
connect to central nervous system and
responsible for sensory receptor , and cranial
nerves that is responsible for many functions
such as smell, sight chewing, taste and
hearing.
The ANS regulates the smooth and cardiac
muscles as well as the other glands. It works
involuntarily, it contains sympathetic nervous
system which is activated during the rise of
physical and emotional stress, while the
parasympathetic nervous system functions
whenever our body is at state of rest or
recovery.

F. VALUING

Our brain is one of the vital organ in our body

and we are responsible of taking care of it.
Class how are you going to take care of your
brain?
None Ma’am.
Very good. All of you are correct. Our
nervous system takes care and works for us to
be able to do our activities, it may be physical
or mental activities, in return we need to take
care of our nervous system as well.

So class, do you have a questions?

Is everything clear?

Very good. If there are no questions, let’s see

if you really learn.

Put all your notes and cellphones inside your

bag.
You will have a group activity.
This activity will test your ability to
memorize.
