Practice Part 1:

1. What kind of advertisements do you watch?


- Actually I have seen advertisements on various platforms. However, I’m often
online so I usually see pop-ups or pay-per-click adverts on websites. I find them
annoying because they are shown repeatedly and disrupt my watching experience.
- ...... platforms. But my favorite adverts are always product placement or
embedded advertising. I could see a product being advertised during the movie,
which is quite pleasant and does not disrupt my watching experience like other
advert types.
- The type of advertisement I often see is pop-ups. They often appear on the my
device’s screen when I surf the Net or watch movies online.
2. Why do you think there are so many advertisements now?
- In my opinion, there are two main reasons why advertisements appear at higher
level frequency = more and more adverts publicly appear = why this happens.
First, many businesses/ companies consider advertising as an effective tool to raise
sales and brand awareness. Second, the development of technology offers more
channels - platforms for people to advertise their product so that they can reach
more customers.
3. Do you often remember advertisements/commercials that you’ve seen?
(Why/Why not?)
- Honestly, it really depends on what kinds of advertisements. For example, if the
advert has high-quality graphics and creative/great content, it will leave a lasting
impression on me and this is easy for me to recall. However, when it is boring and
visually unappealing, it immediately slips my mind.
- Actually I’m an absent-minded à hard for me to recall things especially about
advertisements which have no relevance to me.
