1. Revenue Recognition Principle (ghi nhận doanh thu):
Recognize revenue when it is earned: doanh thu đc ghi nhận khi giao dịch
được xảy ra và hoàn thành ko cần biết đã nhận đc tiền hay chưa
Proceeds need not be in cash
Measure revenue by cash received plus cash value of items received
2. Cost Principle (chi phí)
Accounting information is based on actual cost. Actual cost is considered
objective (Thông tin kế toán được căn cứ vào chi phí thực tế. Chi phí thực
tế được coi là khách quan)
Mình sài thì mới coi là chi phí
Chưa dùng thì là assets (tài sản)
3. Matching Principle (kết nối giữa doanh thu và chi phí)
A company must record its expenses incurred to generate the revenue
reported (phải ghi lại các chi phí phát sinh để tạo ra doanh thu được báo
cáo)
Lúc ghi nhận doanh thu thì cũng ghi nhận chi phí
4. Full Disclosure Principle (cần thuyết minh chi tiết số liệu)
A company is required to report the details behind financial statements
that would impact users’ decisions.
+ Assumptions (giả thuyết)
1. Going-Concern Assumption
Reflects the assumption that the business will continue operating instead of
being closed or sold. (giả thuyết doanh nghiệp khi thành lập tồn tại mãi
mãi)
2. Monetary Unit Assumption
Express transactions and events in monetary, or money, units. (số liệu trình
bày trên báo cáo tài chính dưới dạng tiền tệ)
3. Business Entity Assumption
A business is accounted for separately from other business entities,
including its owner. (chủ thể kinh doanh tách biệt, giúp dễ quản lý)
4. Time Period Assumption
Presumes that the life of a company can be divided into time periods, such
as months and years. (thời gian hoạt động nên chia thành nhiều kì khác
nhau, thông thường theo từng năm)
- Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX): là 1 đạo luật nhằm hạn chế hành vi gian lận, hvi ko tốt
trong việc kế toán như gian lận sổ sách, trốn thuế…
- Financial Statements:
1. Income Statement (bảng báo cáo về thu nhập): a company’s revenues and
expenses along with the resulting net income or loss over a period of time due to
earnings activities (doanh thu và chi phí của công ty cùng với thu nhập hoặc lỗ
ròng phát sinh trong một khoảng thời gian do hoạt động thu nhập)
-> Net income is the difference between Revenues and Expenses (Net income =
Revenues – Expenses)
2. Statement of Owner’s Equity: net income chuyển sang vốn chủ sở hữu (owner’s
equity)
3. Balance Sheet (bảng cân đối ktoan): a company’s financial position at a point in
time, bảng chia làm 2

4. Statement of Cash Flows (bảng báo cáo chi tiết về dòng tiền): trình bày các giao
dịch lquan đến tiền mặt, chỉ cash mới đc thể hiện trg bảng này
+ cash flow from operating activities: những hđộng sdung tiền mặt, thu và chi tiền
mặt có lquan đến hđ cốt lõi của dnghiep như là mua nguyên vật liệu, trả chi phí
sx…
+ cash flows from investing activities: mua bán tài sản dài hạn thì sẽ thu hoặc chi
tiền
+ cash flows from financing activities: hđ thay đổi nguồn vốn chủ sở hữu
- Source Documents: chứng từ giao dịch chứng minh ghi nhận giao dịch

- Adjusting Accounts (các tài khoản cần phải điều chỉnh): An adjusting entry is
recorded to bring an asset or liability account balance to its proper amount. (Một
bút toán điều chỉnh được ghi lại để đưa số dư tài sản hoặc nợ phải trả về đúng giá
trị của nó.)
+ Framework for Adjustments: Khung điều chỉnh, chia làm 2 nhóm
Paid (or received) cash before expense (or revenue) recognized: tiền đã
thu/chi nhưng chưa sử dụng/chưa làm
Prepaid (Deferred) Expenses (trả trước): Resources paid for prior to
receiving the actual benefits.

rồi -> điều chỉnh khoản thành chi phí, giá trị tài sản giảm sau khi đã sử
dụng. => tăng chi phí, giảm giá trị tsan

Depreciation (khấu hao): Depreciation is the process of allocating the
cost of a plant asset over its useful life in a systematic and rational
manner. (sự hao mòn dần dần của tài sản qua thời gian sử dụng -> chi
phí khấu hao)
Straight-line depreciation expense <số tiền khấu hao hằng năm>=
(asset cots <giá trị tài sản ban đầu> – salvage value <gtri còn lại sau
sdung> / useful life <tổng tgian sdung>
Accumulated depreciation: khấu hao tích lũy, không đc trừ khấu hao vào
tsan tích lũy, contra asset account
Unearned (Deferred) Revenues (doanh thu chưa thực hiện)-> Liabilities
(nợ): Cash received in advance of providing products or services. (Tiền
mặt nhận trước khi cung cấp sản phẩm hoặc dịch vụ.)
Accounts receivable
Paid (or received) cash after expense (or revenue) recognized: tiền chưa
thu/chi nhưng đã sử dụng/ đã làm
- Preparing Financial Statements
1. Prepare the Income Statement: liệt kê doanh thu, chi phí, lợi nhuận ->
equity
2. Prepare the Statement of Changes in Owner’s Equity.
3. Prepare the Balance Sheet: chia làm 2 cột: bên trái cột tài sản, bên phải là
liabilities, equity -> tổng nợ + tổng vốn chủ tài sản = nhau
- Profit Margin (chỉ số tài chính): The profit margin ratio measures the
company’s net income to net sales.
- Par value (mệnh giá/ giá trị danh nghĩa): is an arbitrary amount assigned to
each share of stock when it is authorized. (là số tiền tùy ý được ấn định cho
mỗi cổ phiếu khi được ủy quyền)
-> Par value # V.S Market price (giá thị trường): is the amount that each share
of stock will sell for in the market. (là số tiền mà mỗi cổ phiếu sẽ được bán trên
thị trường.)
- Classes of stock:
+ par value: cổ phiếu có mệnh giá phát hành
+ non-par value: cổ phiếu không có mệnh giá phát hành
+ stated value: cổ phiếu có mệnh giá niêm yết, không thay đổi
